Paint Box (song)
"Paint Box" (or, "Paintbox" on later reissues) is a song by the rock band Pink Floyd, written and sung by keyboardist Richard Wright. It was first released in 1967 as the B-side to the single "Apples and Oranges". The song is about a man who lives in an abusive relationship and has artificial friends. Lyrics and music Musical features of the song include its long drum fills by Nick Mason, and a piano solo by Wright, which is panned around the stereo spectrum. Wright also doubles on tack piano in addition to the ordinary acoustic piano. The song's lyrics begin with ''"Last night I had too much to drink / Sitting in a club with so many fools",'' and feature an ambivalent chorus: ''"I open the door to an empty room / Then I forget".'' An added tone chord, or added note chord, is a non- tertian chord composed of a triad and an extra "added" note. Any tone that is not a seventh factor is commonly categorized as an added tone. It can be outside the tertian sequence of ascending thirds from the root, such as the added sixth or fourth, or it can be in a chord that doesn't consist of a continuous stack of thirds, such as the added thirteenth (six thirds from the root, but the chord doesn't have the previous tertian notes – the seventh, ninth or eleventh). ''The Final Cut'' is the twelfth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 21 March 1983 through Harvest and Columbia Records. It comprises unused material from the band's previous studio album, ''The Wall'' (1979), alongside new material recorded throughout 1982. Title The title is a reference to Vera Lynn, a British singer who came to prominence during World War II with her popular song "We'll Meet Again". "Hey You" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on their 1979 double album ''The Wall''. The song, along with "The Show Must Go On", was edited out of the film for fear on the part of the filmmakers that the film was running too long; however, a rough version is available as an extra on the ''25th Anniversary Edition'' DVD. Composition The song starts off with an acoustic guitar, restrung in a fashion similar to Nashville tuning, but with the low E string replaced by a high E tuned two full octaves higher than normal.
