Pahurat
Phahurat or Pahurat ( th, พาหุรัด), often known as Thailand's Little India (location), Little India, is an ethnic neighborhood surrounding Phahurat Road in Wang Burapha Phirom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. The area that would become Phahurat was an enclave of Annamese (Vietnamese people, Vietnamese) immigrants who came to Siam during the reign of Taksin, King Taksin (1768–1782). In 1898, a first broke out and paved way for a road which was named "Bahurada", commonly spelled today as Phahurat or Pahurat (as it is pronounced), by King Chulalongkorn in remembrance of his daughter Princess Bahurada Manimaya (Royal Thai General System of Transcription, RTGS: ''Phahurat Manimai'') ( th, สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าพาหุรัดมณีมัย) who had died at young age. Sikhism In Thailand
Sikhism is a recognised minority religion in Thailand, with about 70,000 adherents. The religion was brought by migrants from India who began to arrive in the late 19th century. There are about twenty Sikh temples or Gurdwaras in the country, including the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Bangkok. Numbers and status The Sikh community was estimated in 2006 to contain around 70,000 people, most of whom resided in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Pattaya, Phuket and Ubon Ratchathani. At that time there were nineteen Sikh temples in the country. Sikhism was one of five religious groups registered with the Religious Affairs Department of the Ministry of Culture. Gurudwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha
A gurdwara (sometimes written as gurudwara) (Gurmukhi: ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ''guradu'ārā'', meaning "Door to the Guru") is a place of assembly and worship for Sikhs. Sikhs also refer to gurdwaras as ''Gurdwara Sahib''. People from all faiths are welcomed in gurdwaras. Each gurdwara has a '' Darbar Sahib'' where the current and everlasting guru of the Sikhs, the scripture Guru Granth Sahib, is placed on a (an elevated throne) in a prominent central position. The Old Siam Plaza ( th, ดิโอลด์สยามพลาซ่า) is a shopping mall in Wang Burapha, a historic neighbourhood of Bangkok, Thailand. It is surrounded by Tri Phet, Burapha, Phahurat and parts of Charoen Krung roads, and is near other neighbourhoods such as Yaowarat, Pak Khlong Talat or Ban Mo. History left, ''Lan Ming Mueang'' The mall is on the site of the former Burapha Phirom Palace, which belonged to Prince Bhanurangsi Savangwongse, one of the brothers of King Rama V. After World War II, the palace was sold and became a shopping center which was popular with young people in the 1950s and 1960s. The Old Siam Plaza was opened in 1993. It is also the name of the surrounding area. The bridge was built along with the excavation of the Khlong Rop Krung at the beginning of Rattanakosin (presently Bangkok) in the reign of King Phutthayotfa Chulalok (Rama I). At that time Saphan Han was a bridge made of a single plank for people crossing from outer city to inner city. Chinatown, Bangkok
Bangkok's Chinatown is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world. It was founded in 1782 when the city was established as the capital of the Rattanakosin Kingdom, and served as the home of the mainly Teochew immigrant Chinese population, who soon became the city's dominant ethnic group. Originally centred around Sampheng, the core of Chinatown now lies along Yaowarat Road, which serves as its main artery and sometimes lends its name to the entire area, which is often referred to as Yaowarat ( th, เยาวราช).
