Pg. 99 (also spelled pageninetynine) was a screamo band from Sterling, Virginia, a town on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. They are considered one of the pioneers of screamo. The band formed as a six-piece in late 1997 and broke up as an eight-piece in 2003; at their maximum capacity they performed with two singers, three guitarists, two bassists and a drummer and were known for their intense live shows.Butler, Blake. Majority Rule is an American hardcore punk band from Northern Virginia, originally active between 1996 and 2004. Influential within the screamo subgenre, their releases include the studio albums ''Interviews with David Frost'' (2001) and ''Emergency Numbers'' (2003) and the split album '' Document #12'' (2002) with Pg. 99. Unwound
Unwound is an American post-hardcore band. The band was formed in 1988 in Tumwater, Washington, Tumwater and Olympia, Washington by vocalist/guitartist Justin Trosper, bassist Vern Rumsey and drummer Brandt Sandeno, and was largely based in Olympia throughout the 1990s until the band's dissolution in 2002. Unwound's best known lineup included Trosper, Rumsey and longtime drummer Sara Lund, who replaced Sandeno in 1992. Often classified as noise rock in addition to post-hardcore, Unwound played a sharply dissonant and angular style that made use of unusual guitar tones, and garnered attention locally for their relentless touring schedules, favour towards "all ages" venues and their strong DIY ethic, DIY ethics. ''Document #7'' is the second full-length album by American screamo band Pg. 99, originally released in early 2001 through Happy Couples Never Last. The vinyl edition first came out on July 23, 2002 through Magic Bullet Records. There were four pressings of the album on vinyl, with a total of 1,902 vinyl copies pressed. The album's overall tone and sound is very different to other Pg. 99 releases, focussing much more on progression and atmosphere rather than energetic fury. Originally, the entire record was supposed to be the Pg.99 side of a cancelled split with Love Lost But Not Forgotten and The Hareste. The album would eventually go out-of-print for years, however Magic Bullet would release the album digitally on bandcamp (as well as making it available on streaming services) on August 11, 2017 to coincide with the band's 2017 reunion tour. ''Document #8'' is the third studio album by the American screamo band Pg. 99. The album was originally released as a vinyl LP on June 13, 2001 through Robotic Empire, with various versions also be released through Electric Human Project and Scene Police. A remixed and remastered edition was released in 2005 through Robotic Empire on CD with two additional bonus tracks, "The Lonesome Waltz of Leonard Cohen" and "The List", the latter being a Filth cover. Both tracks were previously released on ''Document #9: A Split Personality''. The band reunited in 2011 after eight years and performed ''Document #8'' in its entirety during Best Friends Day in Richmond, Virginia. ''Document #8'' was also reissued on vinyl in 2011. Shellac is an American noise rock band from Chicago, Illinois, composed of Steve Albini (guitar and vocals), Bob Weston (bass guitar and vocals) and Todd Trainer (drums and vocals) and formed in 1992. Their music genre has been classified as post-hardcore and math rock, but they describe themselves as a "minimalist rock trio." Biography Shellac formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1992 as an informal collaboration between guitarist Steve Albini and drummer Todd Trainer. Orchid (hardcore Punk Band)
Orchid was an American Screamo/hardcore punk band from Amherst, Massachusetts. Active from 1997 until 2002, they released several EPs and splits as well as three studio albums. The band consisted of lead vocalist Jayson Green, drummer Jeffrey Salane, guitarist Will Killingsworth and bassist Geoff Garlock. In 1999 Orchid released their first record ''Chaos Is Me'' and a year after in 2000 released '' Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow!'' In July 2002 they released their third studio album ''Gatefold'' and later in the year, in September, Orchid released a compilation of both their first and second albums onto CD containing all 21 tracks from both. Jeromes Dream is a screamo band from Connecticut, originally active from 1997 to 2001, and again from 2018 onwards. History Jeromes Dream began on September 13, 1997 after a short jam session between bassist Jeff Smith, guitarist Nick Antonopoulos, and drummer Erik Ratensperger that was held in the basement of Antonopoulos' mother's house. According to Erik Ratensperger, their first recorded material was intended to be used for a demo release; however, it caught the attention of Rice Control Records, resulting in the intended demo material being released as a split album with Amalgamation. Most of the band's music was released as splits with other artists, including other notable screamo acts such as Usurp Synapse. Deadguy
Deadguy is an American metalcore band from New Brunswick, New Jersey. The band formed in 1994 and disbanded in 1997. Deadguy is considered to have played an important role in the development of the mathcore genre, their sole studio album ''Fixation on a Co-Worker'' being cited as a classic within the genre by some. In 2006, Decibel magazine included the album in its "Hall of Fame" list. History Formed in 1994, Deadguy took inspiration from bands like Unsane and Today is the Day. Rorschach is an American hardcore punk band from New Jersey, United States, that existed from 1989 to 1993 and again from 2009 to 2012. Their typical blend of hardcore with dissonant heavy metal elements provided an inspiration to many later hardcore and post-hardcore bands. Born Against
Born Against was an American hardcore punk band from New York active between 1989 and 1993. In addition to their radical leftist politics, the group espoused a DIY punk message and challenged what they perceived as being a problem within the punk subculture of their time. Though Born Against received little media exposure while still together, they have since been described as "legendary" by the ''Chicago Reader'' and the ''LA Weekly''. History The group was founded in early 1989 by guitarist Adam Nathanson and bassist Neil Burke, vocalist Sam McPheeters, and drummer John Guzman, who was replaced in early rehearsals by a drummer named George.
