Paez Medal Of Art
The Paez Medal of Arts is a decoration awarded by The Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts (VAEA) that is presented once a year to an individual or group that has had an impact and contributed to excellence, growth, support and the proliferation of the arts in Venezuela and the United States. It is named in honor of José Antonio Páez, leader of the Independence of Venezuela, who lived in exile the last years in New York, where he became a philanthropist. Bob Colacello (born 1947) is an American writer. Born in Bensonhurst, New York, and raised in Plainview, Long Island, he graduated from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 1969, and also has an MFA degree in film criticism from Columbia University Graduate School of the Arts. Early endeavors and ''Interview'' magazine Colacello began his writing career around 1969, when he began publishing film reviews in the ''Village Voice'' weekly. As a graduate student in the Film department at Columbia University in New York, his first publications doubled as his class essays and homework assignments. Leonor Giménez de Mendoza is a Venezuelan businesswoman and philanthropist. She was the president of Empresas Polar for five years and is president and founder of the Empresas Polar Foundation. Biography Leonor Giménez was born in Barquisimeto, Lara State. She was educated at the Colegio María Auxiliadora in the same city. She spent a year in Montreal to improve her English. Walter James Alcock Pérez, known as Jimmy Alcock (Caracas, September 14, 1932) is a British-Venezuelan architect who resides in Caracas. He won the National Architecture Prize of Venezuela in 1993 and is the XXXIV Member of the National Academy of Engineering and the Habitat of Venezuela. Margot Benacerraf (born August 14, 1926) is a Venezuelan director of Moroccan Jewish descent. Benacerraf was one of the first Latin American filmmakers to study at IDHEC (''Institut des hautes études cinématographiques'') in Paris. Work Benacerraf's two best known films, the 1950s documentaries '' Reverón'' and '' Araya'', are considered "landmarks of Latin America narrative non-fiction". Gustavo Adolfo Dudamel Ramírez (born 26 January 1981) is a Venezuelan conductor and violinist who is the music director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Paris Opera. Early life Dudamel was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, the son of a trombonist and a voice teacher. Marisol Escobar (May 22, 1930 – April 30, 2016), otherwise known simply as Marisol, was a Venezuelan-American sculptor born in Paris, who lived and worked in New York City. She became world-famous in the mid-1960s, but lapsed into relative obscurity within a decade.
