Paddy O'Brien (Gaelic Footballer)
Paddy "Hands" O'Brien (1925 – 26 March 2016) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-back at senior level for the Meath county team. Born in Skryne, County Meath, O'Brien was introduced to Gaelic football at Skryne National School under the tutelage of schoolmaster Brian Smyth. Gaelic football competitions were curtailed during the Emergency, however, he made his senior début with the Skryne club in 1942. A two-time championship medal winner with Skryne, O'Brien also enjoyed championship success with Seán McDermotts in Dublin. O'Brien made his senior début during the 1944 Leinster League. He went on to play a key role during a golden age for Meath and won two All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and two National League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. Skryne GFC
Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship. 2010 season Skryne finished second in the Senior Football Championship Group B. 1955 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1955 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 69th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Meath were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Dublin in the Leinster final. Kerry were the winners. Note Quarter Finals were back in the Munster championship but Clare only skipped 1 year. Limerick, not part of the championship between 1953 and 1964, were approved to host Waterford in the Quarter Final but did not play them. Peter Donohoe (Gaelic Footballer)
Peter Donohoe (died April 2004) was a Gaelic footballer who played for the Cavan county team. Playing career Donohoe played at full forward and was a prolific freetaker for Cavan in the 1940s and early 1950s . Peter Donohoe's eight points from frees were crucial in securing Cavan's famous victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final in Polo Grounds, New York in 1947. He was named Man of the Match and was later described in the New York press as the babe Ruth of Gaelic Football. He helped Cavan retain the title the following year by scoring 2–2 in the final against County Mayo. All-Ireland Minor Football Championship
The Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Football Championship is the premier under-17 "knockout" competition in Gaelic football played in Ireland. 2017 was the final year of the minor under 18 football championship as it were replaced by an under 17 championship following a vote at the GAA congress on 26 February 2016. The series of games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association and are played during the summer months with the All-Ireland Minor Football Final being played on the third Sunday in September in Croke Park, Dublin as the curtain-raiser to the senior final. Navan Parnells GAA
Navan ( ; , meaning "the Cave") is the county town of County Meath, Ireland. In 2016, it had a population of 30,173, making it the tenth largest settlement in Ireland. It is at the confluence of the River Boyne and Blackwater, around 50 km northwest of Dublin. History and name Navan is a Norman foundation: Hugh de Lacy, who was granted the Lordship of Meath in 1172, awarded the Barony of Navan to one of his knights, Jocelyn de Angulo, who built a fort there, from which the town developed.
