Patrick McLaughlin (born 10 October 1979) is a Northern Irish football manager and former footballer who is currently manager of Cliftonville F.C., Cliftonville. Beginning his career at Derry City F.C., Derry City, he went on to play with Institute F.C., Institute, Finn Harps F.C., Finn Harps, and Coleraine F.C., Coleraine. At 'Stute he served as club captain, leading them to promotion to the NIFL Premiership, Premiership after winning the 2013-14 NIFL Championship. He retired from playing in 2015 to take on the role of assistant manager under newly-appointed Institute boss Kevin Deery. He spent two years as assistant manager before succeeding Deery as manager following his resignation. Patrick Joseph McLaughlin (born 14 January 1991) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club York City. He has played in the Football League for the club. McLaughlin previously played for Newcastle United, Grimsby Town, Harrogate Town, Gateshead, Hartlepool United and Kidderminster Harriers. He has represented Northern Ireland at levels up to under-21. Club career Early career Born in Larne, County Antrim, McLaughlin began his career at Newcastle United in July 2007. Pat McLaughlin is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. He was raised in Waterloo, Iowa, but moved to San Francisco, California in the early 1970s. There McLaughlin began to write songs, playing alone at open mic nights and in the streets near the bay. After a brief stint in Boston, he moved to Nashville where he formed a band and released his first album in 1980. Two consecutive projects for Capitol Records followed. Patrick McLaughlin (1883 – 27 March 1916) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward in the Football League for Fulham. He had a long career in non-League football in North East England. Personal life Prior to the First World War, McLaughlin worked as commissionaire at Palmer's Works in Jarrow. In August 1914, shortly after the outbreak of the First World War, McLaughlin enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers in Jarrow. By the end of the month, he had been promoted to acting sergeant and was posted to the Western Front in December 1914. McLaughlin was made a permanent sergeant in March 1915 and was wounded in July 1915. He was promoted to company sergeant major in February 1916. Patrick McLaughlin (1909–1988) was an English Roman Catholic lay brother of the Order of Saint Benedict and a Christian writer, as well as a former Anglican priest until he became a Roman Catholic in 1962. While an Anglican priest, he was known in the Anglo-Catholic manner as Father Patrick McLaughlin. Early life and background The son of the Reverend Alfred Harry McLaughlin (1852–1935) and his second wife, Jessie Mabel Vale (called May), McLaughlin was born in 1909 while his father was vicar of Much Birch, Herefordshire. Peter Britton Tobin (27 August 1946 – 8 October 2022) was a Scottish convicted serial killer and sex offender who served a whole life order at HM Prison Edinburgh for three murders committed between 1991 and 2006. Police also investigated Tobin over the deaths and disappearances of other young women and girls. Tobin served ten years in prison for the rape, buggery and indecent assault of two girls in 1993, following which he was released in 2004.
