Padbury Buildings, Perth
The Padbury Buildings was a building complex in Forrest Place in Perth, Western Australia. It was located the full length of Forrest Place between Wellington Street and Murray Street. They were constructed in 19241925. It was a low set building adjacent to the higher Boans building, which later was demolished to make way for the Myer building. The city buildings housed a range of businesses, and associations with significant organisations as tenants at various stages. They were a part of a set of buildings associated with William Padbury (nephew of Walter Padbury) in Western Australia. Due to the location on Forrest Place, it was photographed regularly throughout its history. In 1937 a series of sectional photographs were made along the Forrest Place frontage. The buildings were demolished in 1987, in preparation for the site of the Forrest Chase complex. Forrest Chase
Forrest Chase is a major shopping centre in Perth, Western Australia located in Forrest Place. A Myer store serves as its main anchor and largest tenant. The centre also contains a Woolworths supermarket and other shops. The western portion of the structure sits on the site of the former Padbury Buildings on the eastern side of Forrest Place. The site also formerly contained the Perth Boans department store before it made way for the current centre in 1986. The centre was redeveloped between 2017 and 2019. Transport The centre connects with major pedestrian malls such as Carillon City via elevated walkways. There is no direct vehicular transport to the location, although Wellington Street comes the closest. It is located in the middle of the Perth main retail precinct between the Hay and Murray Street malls, at the southern end of Forrest Place. It is linked to St Georges Terrace by way of access through Trinity Arcade and an arcade under Hay Street Mall. Padbury Buildings is the name for a range of existing and former structures found in various localities in Western Australia. The Padbury family, mainly Walter Padbury, had a range of buildings, some of which now are heritage listed. Padbury is a village within the Buckinghamshire unitary authority area, England. It is located on the A413 main road that links Buckingham with Winslow.
