Padawan Municipality
The Padawan municipality is a collective name given to a subset of the Kuching District area which is not administered locally by the Kuching South City Council and the Kuching North City Hall, formerly known as Kuching Rural district. It has an area of 1771.3 km2, covering the suburbs of the Kuching Proper subdistrict and Padawan subdistrict. The area is currently administered by the local government named Padawan Municipal Council, based in Kota Padawan, located at 10th mile (16 km) from Kuching city centre. Etymology The origin of the name "Padawan" came from the combination of Bidayuh words namely ''Padja'' and ''Birawan''. There is a story of a Bidayuh village elder named ''Kinyau'' stayed in an area named ''Sibanyai'' 900 years ago. Kuching South City Council
The Council of the City of Kuching South ( ms, Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan, abbreviated MBKS) is the city council which administers the southern part of the city of Kuching in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. This council was established after the city was officially granted city status on 1 August 1988. Their jurisdiction covers an area of 61.53 square kilometres. Kuching (), officially the City of Kuching, is the capital and the most populous city in the States and federal territories of Malaysia, state of Sarawak in Malaysia. Sarawak Biodiversity Centre is a statutory body that was set up by the government of Sarawak in 1997 for the regulation of access and collection of biological resources for research or commercial purposes. Kubah National Park
The Kubah National Park ( ms, Taman Negara Kubah) is a national park in Kuching Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, located at 20 km from the city centre. Wild animals are hidden deep in the rainforest here, and some of the species that live here are bearded pigs, mouse deer, black hornbill and many species of reptiles and amphibians. The park is also characterized by 93 species of palm trees that grow here. The park is dominated by Mount Serapi, which rises to 911 meters above sea level. Bidayuh
Bidayuh is the collective name for several indigenous groups found in southern Sarawak, Malaysia and northern West Kalimantan, Indonesia, on the island of Borneo, which are broadly similar in language and culture (see also #Language issues, issues below). The name ''Bidayuh'' means 'inhabitants of land'. Padawan Municipal Council (''Malay: Majlis Perbandaran Padawan'') (MPP or PMC) is a local authority which administers Padawan municipality of the Kuching District, Sarawak, Malaysia.
