Padatik (film)
''Padatik'' (''The Guerrilla Fighter'') is a 1973 Bengali drama film directed by noted Parallel Cinema director Mrinal Sen. This film is considered to be the third film of Mrinal Sen's ''Calcutta'' trilogy, the others being ''Interview'', and '' Calcutta 71''. Plot A political activist escapes the prison van and is sheltered in a posh apartment owned by a sensitive young woman. Both are rebels: the activist against political treachery and the other on social level. Both are bitter about badly organized state of things. Being in solitary confinement, the fugitive engages himself in self-criticism and, in the process, questions the leadership. Questions are not allowed, obeying that is mandatory. Displeasure leads to bitterness, bitterness to total rift. The struggle has to continue, both for the political activist, now segregated, and the woman in exile. Padatik Natya Sangsad (''Padatik theatre group'') is a Dhaka based Bangladeshi Bengali theatre group. To sustain the spirit of the Bangladesh Liberation War, the group was formed in 1978. History Padatik began its journey on 21 January 1978 with a core team of spirited Dhaka University students and some former theatre workers of Kalantar Natyagosthi. The primary aim of this group was to uplift spirit, enrich culture and to sustain the spirit of the Bangladesh Liberation War (1971). The first drama to be staged by this group was Jasimuddin's Sojan Bandiyar Ghat. Following members started Padatik namely S.M. Solaiman, Anisuzzaman Manik, Abul Kashem Dulal, Abu Mohammad Murtaysh Kachi, Quamrul Hassan Swapan, Ulfat Rana, Selim S H Chowdhury, Golam Quddus & others. Padatik (Indian Theatre Group)
Shyamanand Jalan (13 January 1934 – 24 May 2010) was a Kolkata-based Indian theatre director, and actor. He is credited for the renaissance period of modern Indian theatre and especially the Hindi theatre in Kolkata from the 1960s to 1980s. He was the first to perform modernist Mohan Rakesh, starting with ''Ashadh Ka Ek Din'' (One Day in Ashad) in 1960 and in the coming years bridged the gap between Hindi theatre and Bengali theatre, by mounting Hindi productions of works by Bengali playwrights, like Badal Sircar's ''Evam Indrajit'' (1968) and ''Pagla Ghora'' (1971), which in turn introduced Sircar to rest of the country. In 2005, he directed his first and only film ''Eashwar Mime Co.'', which was an adaptation of Dibyendu Palit's story, ''Mukhabhinoy'', by Vijay Tendulkar.
