Packy (elephant)
Packy (April 14, 1962 – February 9, 2017) was an Asian elephant at the Oregon Zoo (Portland Zoological Gardens at the time of his birth) in Portland, Oregon, United States. He was famous for having been the first elephant born in the Western Hemisphere in 44 years. At the time of his death, he was the oldest male Asian elephant in North America. With a shoulder height of and overall height of more than when standing up straight, Packy was also one of the tallest elephants in the United States and perhaps one of the tallest worldwide. History Packy's mother, Belle, was wild-born in Thailand, around 1952. His father, Thonglaw, was born in Cambodia around 1947. Patrick Joseph Naughton (born April 16, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Angels. Amateur career Naughton attended Boston Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 2014. He underwent Tommy John surgery his junior year. He was not drafted out of high school in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft and thus enrolled at Virginia Tech where he played college baseball. In 2015, Naughton's freshman year at Virginia Tech, he pitched 44 innings, going 2–1 with a 4.91 ERA and 35 strikeouts. As a sophomore in 2016, he appeared in 15 games (making 14 starts) in which he compiled a 3–7 record and a 6.75 ERA. Charles "Packy" Axton (February 17, 1941 – January 20, 1974) was an American rhythm and blues tenor saxophone player and bandleader, who was a member of the Mar-Keys and later the Packers. Early life Charles Everett "Packy" Axton was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Everett and Estelle Axton. Estelle Axton and her brother, Jim Stewart, were the founders of Stax Records. He graduated from Messick High School in 1959. Career By 1959, Packy Axton had become a member of the Royal Spades, a group formed by Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Charlie Freeman and Terry Johnson, which expanded to include a horn section composed of Axton, Don Nix, and Wayne Jackson. Packy McGarty
Packy McGarty (29 April 1933 – 6 April 2021) was a Gaelic football player from Mohill, County Leitrim. He played for the Leitrim county team for 23 years between 1949 and 1971, playing his first senior game at the age of 16. He played in four Connacht Senior Football Championship finals with Leitrim, from 1957 to 1960. In 1958 they were narrowly beaten by a Galway team backboned by the players who would win three consecutive All-Ireland Senior Football Championship titles between 1963 and 1966. In this match he had his jersey torn to shreds by the Galway backs, and many spectators said his performance was one of the all-time great Gaelic football forward displays. Patrick "Packey" McFarland (November 1, 1888 – September 22, 1936) was an American boxer in the lightweight and welterweight divisions. Despite an extraordinary winning record, he was unable to secure a match for either world title. The '' Ring Record Book and Boxing Encyclopedia'' suggests McFarland was the best fighter never to become a world champion. Professional career McFarland was born on November 1, 1888, in Chicago, Illinois. McFarland became a professional boxer in 1904. In 1905 he beat Jimmy Britt, who had a disputed claim to be the lightweight world champion, although this fight was not for a title.
