The Division of Paterson is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. It is located just north of Newcastle, on the coast of the Tasman Sea. The division is named after federation-era poet and author Banjo Paterson and was originally created in 1949 and abolished in 1984. It was recreated after a redistribution in 1992. The division is centred on the lower Hunter Valley and the outer suburbs of Greater Newcastle. Forster, New South Wales
Forster is a coastal town in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, in the Mid-Coast Council LGA, about 308 km north-north-east of Sydney. It is immediately adjacent to its twin, Tuncurry, which is the smaller of the two towns. Forster is known for its stunning waters and Manning Valley beauty. History Forster is named after William Forster, who also was the 4th Premier of New South Wales and who later served as Agent-General in London. The first post office in Forster opened on 1 October 1872, with John Wyllie Breckenridge as postmaster at a salary of £10 a year. The area was well known in the early days for its timber cutting and sawmills. Timber was collected from the lakes and rivers by the logpunts (droghers). The council was formed on 12 May 2016 through a merger of the Gloucester Shire, Great Lakes and City of Greater Taree councils. Booti Booti National Park
Booti Booti National Park is a national park in New South Wales, Australia, , by road, north-north-east of Sydney. The holiday town of Forster-Tuncurry lies immediately to the north. History The first European to inhabit the area was a Captain J. Gogerly who sailed from Forster to Sydney with loads of timber. He and some of his family are buried in the park. Mining for mineral sands took place at Seven Mile Beach from 1969 to 1975, and at Elizabeth Beach from 1969 to 1970. The park was declared a state recreation area from 30 September 1977, then a national park in 1992. Blueys Beach, New South Wales
Blueys Beach is a beach and locality in the Pacific Palms area of New South Wales, Australia. It got its name from a cow that fell off of a cliff. Background The beach stretches for and is flanked by headland on either end. The beach is backed by of hilly slopes filled with vegetation and can only be accessed by foot. It is a popular tourist attraction, with thousands flocking to the area during Christmas. Although un-patrolled, few drownings have been recorded at the beach. High swells and rough surf are common at times and it is regarded as the best surf beach in the area with usually consistent swell. Boomerang Beach is a locality and beach in the township of Pacific Palms, New South Wales, 282km (175mi) by road north of Sydney.
