: ''For the late 1970s ice hockey league, see Pacific Hockey League.'' The Pacific Hockey League (PHL) was a short lived semi-professional ice hockey league in the western United States in the 1990s. The league was formed by a merger of two previous semi-professional leagues, the Pacific Southwest Hockey League and Pacific Northwest Hockey League. Several PHL teams became charter members of the professional West Coast Hockey League in 1995. The PHL played only one season, 1994–95. In addition to its league schedule the Anchorage Aces played several out-of-league games, while the Fresno Falcons also played opponents from the Florida-based Sunshine Hockey League. Pacific Hockey League

The Pacific Hockey League was a low-level minor professional hockey league that existed for two seasons in 1977–78, and 1978–79. Its member teams from California, Arizona and Washington states, replaced the void left by defunct World Hockey Association franchises, with some teams sharing the names of their predecessors. The idea for the league emerged in the 1977 WHA All-Star Game, as WHA co-founder Dennis Murphy and Indianapolis Racers founder Walt Marlow discussed putting a minor league in the West Coast akin to the recently defunct Western Hockey League. As the WHA's San Diego Mariners disbanded following that season, San Diego Sports Arena operator Peter Murphy decided to join Murphy and Morrow to push for said league along with WHA alum James Browitt. Pacific Southwest Hockey League
The Pacific Southwest Hockey League was a semi-professional ice hockey league that operated in California, Nevada and Alaska starting in 1972 and ran through 1995, when its members were incorporated into the upstart professional West Coast Hockey League. The league operated as the California-Nevada Hockey League from 1968 to 1972. The League's focus The PSHL's signature franchise was the Fresno Falcons largely due to convenience and the availability of a then-relatively new showcase arena, Selland Arena in Fresno's Convention Center. At times throughout the league's history, some games even if not involving the Falcons were held at Selland Arena. A PSHL season ranged from 15 to 30 games each between anywhere from 4 to 8 teams.
