Pacific Coast International League
The Pacific Coast International League was a minor league baseball league that played between 1918 and 1922. The Class B level league franchises were based in the Northwest United States and British Columbia. History The Pacific Coast International League was a re–branding of the former Northwestern League and was known as the Northwest International League in 1919. In 1922, the name was changed to the Western International League. Teams in the league included the Aberdeen Black Cats, Portland Buckaroos, Seattle Giants, Spokane Indians, Tacoma Tigers, Vancouver Beavers, Victoria Islanders and Yakima Indians. As the Northwest International League, it consisted of two Washington–based teams and two Canada-based teams: the Seattle Drydockers, Tacoma Tigers, Vancouver Beavers and Victoria Tyrees. Northwestern League (1905–17)
The Northwestern League was a sports league that operated in the Central United States during the early years of professional baseball for six seasons: 1879, 1883–1884, 1886–1887, and 1891. After the 1887 season, the league was replaced by the Western Association, although the Northwestern League returned for its final season in 1891 as an independent baseball league. Vancouver Beavers
The Vancouver Beavers were a Class-B minor league baseball team based in Vancouver, British Columbia that played on and off from 1908 to 1922. The team played in the Northwestern League (1905–1917), Northwestern League, Pacific Coast International League, Northwest International League and Western International League. In early years, their games were staged at Recreation Park (Vancouver), Recreation Park. From 1913 on, they played their home games at Athletic Park (Vancouver), Athletic Park. In 1910, Bob Brown (baseball player, born 1876), Bob Brown bought a 60% share of the team for $500. He moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to take on the role of the team, team's playing manager. Joe McGinnity
Joseph Jerome McGinnity (March 20, 1871 – November 14, 1929) was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the late 19th and early 20th century. McGinnity played in MLB for ten years, pitching for the National League's (NL) Baltimore Orioles (1899) and Brooklyn Superbas (1900), before jumping to the American League (AL) to play for the Baltimore Orioles (AL) (1901–1902). He returned to the NL with the New York Giants (1902–1908). McGinnity continued to pitch in the minor leagues, eventually retiring from baseball for good at the age of 54. In MLB, he won 246 games with a 2.66 earned run average (ERA). He had seven 20-win seasons and two 30-win seasons.
