Pachamba
''Pachamba'' is an ancient location in Giridih town, Jharkhand state, India. Location: Latitude: 24° 12′ N, Longitude: 86° 16′ E. The term "Pachamba" means five ("pach") mangoes ("amba"), implying that there was a cluster of five mango trees where the township grew up. Prior to the establishment of Giridih as a major town of the region, Pachamba was the main attraction for the rural dwellers for market related activities. Pachamba has one of the oldest Church (building), churches of East India, Eastern India. The church is called the Stevenson Memorial Church. In 1871, Rev. (Dr.) Archibald Templeton, M.D., came to Pachamba to serve these tribal areas under the “Santal Mission (Christian), Mission of the Free Church of Scotland (1843–1900), Free Church of Scotland”. Giridih is headquarters of the Giridih district of Jharkhand state, India. The city of Giridih is known for its industrial and health sectors, as well as its scenic beauty. Giridih houses the Giridih Coalfield which is one of the oldest coalfields to be worked in India. Giridih is one of the six Data Processing Centres of Data Processing Division (DPD) of National Sample Survey Office (NSSO). Before 1972, Giridih was part of Hazaribagh district.
