Pachaimalai Hills
The Pachaimalai Hills, (Tamil: பச்சைமலை), also known as the Pachais, are a low mountain range in the Eastern Ghats System. They are located in Perambalur district & Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu state, southeastern India. It is situated at a distance of 10 km from Perambalur, 73 km from Trichy and 112 km from Salem. The Tamil Nadu Government is planning to develop the Pachaimalai as a tourist destination. Etymology In the Tamil language, ''Pachai'' means green. The range's vegetation is greener than some of the other hills in the region. Geography Rivers in the Pachaimalai Hills include the Sweata Nadi and Kallar River. Waterfalls include the Koraiyar Falls, Mangalam Aruvi falls, and Mayil Uthu falls. The VeeraRamar Dam is located on the Kallar River in the hills. Jackfruit
The jackfruit (''Artocarpus heterophyllus''), also known as jack tree, is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry, and breadfruit family (Moraceae). Its origin is in the region between the Western Ghats of southern India, all of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the rainforests of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The jack tree is well-suited to tropical lowlands, and is widely cultivated throughout tropical regions of the world. It bears the largest fruit of all trees, reaching as much as in weight, in length, and in diameter. Salem District
Salem District is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu state in southern India. The district is now divided into Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Namakkal as individual districts. Salem is the district headquarters and other major towns in the district include Mettur, Thammampatti, Attur, Omalur, Sankagiri and Edappadi. Esanai
Esanai is a village 50 miles (31 km) northeast of Trichy, in far southern India, coming under the Perambalur taluk in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu state. It is known mainly for its temple to Ayyappan, which is visited by thousands of people from India and abroad. The main economy of the village has been in farming sugarcane and rice.
