Pablo Torello
Pablo Torello (born 12 February 1959) is an Argentine politician, currently serving as National Deputy elected in Buenos Aires Province. A member of Republican Proposal, Torello was first elected in 2015. He previously served as a member of the City Council of Bragado from 2013 to 2015. Early life and career Torello was born on 12 February 1959 in Buenos Aires. He is a grand-nephew of Pablo Miguel Torello (1864–1943), who was Minister of Public Works during the presidency of Hipólito Yrigoyen. His brother, José Torello, is also a Republican Proposal politician and currently serves as a Senator for Buenos Aires. Torello is married to María Patricia Medina. From 2008 to 2009 he led the Bragado chapter of the Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), and served in the SRA directive board from 2003 to 2013. The Chamber of Deputies ( es, Cámara de Diputados de la Nación), officially the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, is the lower house of the Argentine National Congress ( es, Congreso de la Nación). It is made up of 257 national deputies who are elected in multi-member constituencies corresponding with the territories of the 23 provinces of Argentina (plus the Federal Capital) by party list proportional representation. Elections to the Chamber are held every two years, so that half of its members are up in each election, making it a rare example of staggered elections used in a lower house. Elective Abortion in Argentina is legal in the first 14 weeks of gestation. The abortion law was liberalized after the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy Bill (Argentina) was passed by the National Congress in December 2020. According to the law, any woman can request the procedure at any public or private health facility. Doctors are legally bound to either perform it or, if they are conscientious objectors, refer the patient to another physician or health facility. Only four other Latin or South American countries have legalised abortion on request: Cuba in 1965, Guyana in 1995, Uruguay in 2012 and Colombia in 2022.
