Pablo Ruz
Pablo Rafael Ruz Gutiérrez (born Madrid, 1975) is a Spanish judge. He is best known for his part in investigating the Gurtel corruption scandal (previously handled by Baltasar Garzón and Antonio Pedreira) and the related Barcenas affair, but has handled other prominent cases. He was educated at Comillas Pontifical University. In 2008, while still in his 20s, he was appointed to Spain's central criminal court, the ''Audiencia Nacional'', on a temporary basis. He was re-appointed in 2010, filling the vacancy left by Baltasar Garzón. Although the appointment was again on an interim basis, he served there until 2015, when he took up a position in Móstoles. Gürtel Case
The Gürtel case is a political corruption scandal in Spain, which implicates officers of the People's Party (PP), Spain's major conservative party, some of whom have been forced to resign or have been suspended. Gürtel is one of the largest corruption scandals in recent Spanish history, and there are related scandals, such as the Bárcenas case, which have received media attention in their own right. The case came to public attention in early 2009, but for the most part the suspects were not put on trial until October 2016. The investigative operation was given the name Gürtel in a cryptic reference to one of the principal suspects, Francisco Correa Sánchez (''correa'' as a Spanish word means ''belt'' in English, ''Gürtel'' in German). Baltasar Garzón
Baltasar Garzón Real (; born 26 October 1955) is a former Spanish judge. Garzón formerly served on Spain's central criminal court, the ''Audiencia Nacional'', and was the examining magistrate of the ''Juzgado Central de Instrucción No. 5'', which investigates the most important criminal cases in Spain, including terrorism, organised crime, and money laundering. In 2011, he was suspended from judicial activity and in 2012 he was convicted of illegal wiretapping and disbarred for a period of 11 years. During this time, Garzón legally assisted Julian Assange. On 24 March 2020, it was announced that Garzón was diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospitalized during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. Móstoles
Móstoles () is a municipality of Spain located in the Community of Madrid. With over 200,000 inhabitants, it is the region's second most populated municipality after Madrid. Móstoles was a small town for a long time, but expanded rapidly in the second half of the 20th century. The city also hosts the main campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University.
