Pablo Castro Estevez
Pablo Castro (born October 9, 1959) is an Argentinean-born architect and co-founder of the award-winning architectural design firm Obra Architects in New York City, Beijing, and Seoul. Education and early career Born in San Juan, Castro left Argentina in 1989 to move to New York. He holds an Architecture diploma from the Universidad Nacional de San Juan and a MS in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. From 1995 to 2000, Castro served as Senior Associate at Steven Holl Architects, where he was in charge of the design and realization of the award-winning College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture for the University of Minnesota. He spent four months in Helsinki detailing Steven Holl's breakthrough project Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art which opened to the public in 1998. Architectural League Of New York
The Architectural League of New York is a non-profit organization "for creative and intellectual work in architecture, urbanism, and related disciplines". The league dates from 1881, when Cass Gilbert organized meetings at the Salmagundi Club for young architects. In early years, members took turns assigning sketch problems with solutions then critiqued by established architects. In 1886 it was restarted by architect Russell Sturgis with exhibitions, lectures, dinners, tours, and juried annual exhibitions. The Chicago Athenaeum is a private museum of architecture and design, based in Galena, Illinois. The museum focuses on the art of design in all areas of the discipline: architecture, industrial and product design, graphics, landscape architecture, and urban planning. The Cranbrook Educational Community is an education, research, and public museum complex in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. This National Historic Landmark was founded in the early 20th century by newspaper mogul George Gough Booth. It consists of Cranbrook Schools, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook Institute of Science, and Cranbrook House and Gardens. The founders also built Christ Church Cranbrook as a focal point in order to serve the educational complex. However, the church is a separate entity under the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. The Pratt Institute School of Architecture is located in New York City with courses being taught at Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses. In 2012 the journal 'DesignIntelligence' ranked it in the ten best architecture schools in the United States.
