Beech River Regional Airport is a public-use airport in Henderson County, Tennessee, United States. It is located five nautical miles (5.8 mi, 9.3 km) northwest of the central business district of Parsons, a city in Decatur County. The airport opened in 2006 and is owned by Beech River Regional Airport Authority, representing the cities of Lexington and Parsons, the counties of Henderson and Decatur, and the state of Tennessee. Portal Vein Embolization
Portal vein embolization (PVE) is a preoperative procedure performed in interventional radiology to initiate hypertrophy of the anticipated future liver remnant a couple weeks prior to a major liver resection procedure. The procedure involves injecting the right or left portal vein with embolic material to occlude portal blood flow. By occluding the blood flow to areas of the liver that will be resected away, the blood is diverted to healthy parts of the liver and induces hyperplasia. This may allow for a more extensive resection or stage bilateral resections that would otherwise be contraindicated resulting in better oncological treatment outcomes. The partial volume effect can be defined as the loss of apparent activity in small objects or regions because of the limited resolution of the imaging system. It occurs in medical imaging and more generally in biological imaging such as positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). If the object or region to be imaged is less than twice the full width at half maximum (FWHM) resolution in x-, y- and z-dimension of the imaging system, the resultant activity in the object or region is underestimated. A higher resolution decreases this effect, as it better resolves the tissue.
