PSL Q-innovation
The 2012–13 Premier Soccer League, 2012–13 Premier Soccer League season (known as the Absa Group, ABSA Premier Soccer League, Premiership for sponsorship reasons) saw the introduction of the ''Q-innovation'' system. The league schedule is split into four fixture-blocks referred to as quarters, the first and third blocks have eight fixtures, the second and fourth blocks have seven fixtures. 2012–13 Premier Soccer League
The 2012–13 Premier Soccer League season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the seventeenth season of the Premier Soccer League since its establishment in 1996. The season began in the second week of August 2012. Orlando Pirates were the defending champions, having won the previous 2011-12 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, but lost their title to Kaizer Chiefs. The season featured 14 teams from the 2011-12 PSL season and two new teams promoted from the 2011–12 National First Division: Tuks FC and Chippa United who replace relegated Santos and Jomo Cosmos. Chippa United Football Club (often known as Chilli boys or Chippa) is a South African professional football club based in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape province, having previously being based in Nyanga suburb of the city of Cape Town. Mamelodi, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, is a township set up by the then apartheid government northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Lamontville Golden Arrows F.C. are a South African soccer club based in Durban that plays in the Premier Soccer League. History It was founded in 1943 in the streets of Lamontville, a township in Durban. The club played in the defunct National Professional Soccer League in the 1970s until they were relegated in 1976. Platinum Stars was a South African football club based in Phokeng near Rustenburg, North West Province that played in the Premier Soccer League. The club was nicknamed ''Dikwena'', the Tswana name for ''Crocodiles''.
