PLK Most Valuable Player
The PLK Most Valuable Player award is given annually at the end of the regular season of the Polish Basketball League (PLK), the highest professional basketball league in Poland, to the most valuable player of the league. Originally, the award was given by the now defunct Polish I Liga (Polish League 1), and was called the Polish League 1 Player of the Year. The current award, given by the Polish PLK League, began when that league started, with the 1995–96 season. Polish Basketball League
Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK) (English language, English: Polish Basketball League) is a professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish basketball league system, Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. It began in 1947–48, with the name of I Liga, and was originally organized by the Polish Basketball Federation. The league changed to its current form, beginning with the 1997–98 season, after the Polska Liga Koszykówki SA, PLK SA (the Polish Basketball League Joint-stock company) took control over the league (the PLK SA was created in 1995). In 2000–01 season the league turned professional. The PLK, which is played under FIBA Europe, FIBA rules, currently consists of 16 teams. Maciej Zieliński (basketball)
Maciej Zieliński (born 5 January 1971) is a Polish former professional basketball player. He is known as one of the all-time greats in Polish basketball. He studied in the United States at Providence College. With the national team he participated at EuroBasket 1991 and EuroBasket 1997, as the Polish national team finished seventh in both tournaments. He played vast majority of his professional career with Śląsk Wrocław, where he became a multiple Polish champion and the Polish Basketball League Most Valuable Player. Zagłębie Sosnowiec () is a Polish professional football club based in Sosnowiec. The club was established in 1906. Górnik Wałbrzych is a Polish men's basketball team, based in Wałbrzych, southwestern Poland, currently in Polish division I (second-tier league). Start Lublin, more commonly known as Polski Cukier Pszczółka Start Lublin because of sponsporship reasons, is a Polish basketball club based in Lublin.
