Pangkor Island
Pangkor Island ( ms, Pulau Pangkor) is an island in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. It has a population of approximately 25,000. Nearby islands include Pangkor Laut Island, Giam Island, Mentagor Island, Simpan Island, and Tukun Terindak Island. The major industries of the island are tourism and fishing. Geography Pangkor Island has a land area of and is from Peninsular Malaysia. The interior of the island is forested and is home to 65 reptile species, 17 amphibian species, and 82 total herpetofaunal species. History Historically, Pangkor was a refuge for local fishers, merchants and pirates. In the 17th century, the Dutch built a fort to control the Perak tin trade, known as the Dutch Fort. In 1874, it was the location of a historical treaty between the British government and a contender for the Perak throne (the Pangkor Treaty), which began the British colonial domination of the Malay Peninsula. Penkridge Railway Station
Penkridge railway station is a station serving the village of Penkridge in Staffordshire, England. It is situated on the Birmingham branch of the West Coast Main Line. To the north, the line continues towards Stafford. To the south, the line continues towards the city of Wolverhampton. The station is operated by London Northwestern Railway, who run all of its train services. History The original station was built by the Grand Junction Railway and opened in 1837. Baron Hatherton allowed trains to run across his land on the condition that two trains a day stopped at Penkridge. When closure of the station was proposed in 1962, the incumbent Baron Hatherton threatened to withdraw the right to cross his land if the station was closed. Nearby to Penkridge is a former mineral branch line to the nearby village of Huntington. It served a Colliery until the 1980s. FreeBSD Ports
The FreeBSD Ports collection is a package management system for the FreeBSD operating system, providing an easy and consistent way of installing software packages. As of February 2020, there are over 38,487 ports available in the collection. It has also been adopted by NetBSD as the basis of its pkgsrc system. Installing from source The ports collection uses Makefiles arranged in a directory hierarchy so that software can be built, installed and uninstalled with the make command. When installing an application, very little (if any) user intervention is required after issuing a beginning command such as make install or make install clean in the ports directory of the desired application. In most cases the software is automatically downloaded from the Internet, patched and configured if necessary, then compiled, installed and registered in the package database.
