PGA Professional National Championship
The PGA Professional Championship is a golf tournament for golf club professionals and teachers who are members of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. It has been held by the PGA of America since 1968, when touring professionals split off to found the PGA Tour. It was known as the PGA Club Professional Championship until 2006 and as the PGA Professional National Championship from 2006 through 2015 Sam Snead and Bob Rosburg are the only players to win a major championship and the PGA Professional Championship. Bruce Fleisher and Larry Gilbert each would go on to win a senior major. Several other winners have had PGA Tour careers, either before or after winning the championship. The first edition in 1968 was held in early December in Scottsdale, Arizona. The leading 20 players in the event receive an entry into that year's PGA Championship. 2006 PGA Championship
The 2006 PGA Championship was the 88th PGA Championship, played August 17–20 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Tiger Woods won his third PGA Championship and twelfth major title, five shots ahead of runner-up Shaun Micheel, the 2003 champion. It was consecutive major wins for Woods, after taking The Open Championship at Hoylake four weeks earlier. The No. 3 Course was the longest to date in major championship history. Medinah previously hosted the tournament in 1999, when Woods captured his first PGA Championship. The purse was $6.8 million with a winner's share of $1.224 million. Ryan Vermeer
Ryan Vermeer (born January 11, 1978) is an American professional golfer. Vermeer was born in Spencer, Iowa. He played college golf at the University of Kansas from 1997 to 2000 where he won a record seven events and was All-American in 1999 and 2000. He turned professional in 2000. Vermeer played on the Buy.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) in 2001. His best finish was T-18 at the Buy.com Omaha Classic. He finished 163rd on the money list, lost his card and only played sporadically on the Web.com Tour and PGA Tour after 2001. Vermeer became a club professional and played well enough in the PGA Professional Championship to earn spots in the PGA Championship in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022. Danny Balin
Danny Balin (born April 9, 1982) is an American professional golfer. Balin is a six-time PGA of America Metropolitan Section Player of the Year (2010, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2021), and the 2012, 2013 and 2021 New York State Open champion. Balin has played in nine major championships including the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 PGA Championships. Omar David Uresti (born August 3, 1968) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour. Early life Uresti was born in Austin, Texas. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated in 1991 with a degree in organizational communication. He turned professional immediately after graduating. Professional career Uresti has two wins on the Web.com Tour: one in 1994 at the Nike Shreveport Open, and one in 2007 at the Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship.
