The Badminton Association of Indonesia or Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia ( id, Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia; sometimes translated as ''All Indonesia Badminton Association'') is the sport governing body, governing body of badminton in Indonesia. It was founded on 5 May 1951. The PBSI joined the Badminton Asia Confederation in 1959 and later on also the Badminton World Federation. The Indonesian badminton is ranked 3rd in the world according to BWF's 2020 rankings. PBSI is also the governing body of the Indonesia national badminton team. Gita Wirjawan
Gita Irawan Wirjawan (born 21 September 1965) is an Indonesian investment banker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, musician, and podcaster. Previously, he served as Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu II (Second United Indonesia Cabinet). He is the founder of Ancora Group and Ancora Foundation. He was the head of Badminton Association of Indonesia from 2012 to 2016. Ferry Sonneville
Ferdinand Alexander "Ferry" Sonneville (3 January 1931 – 20 November 2003) was an Indonesian badminton player noted for his touch, consistency, tactical astuteness, and coolness under pressure. He won numerous international singles titles from the mid-1950s through the early 1960s and his clutch performances helped Indonesia to win its first three Thomas Cup (men's world team) titles consecutively in 1958, 1961, and 1964, setting the pattern for his country's continued formidable presence in world badminton. Sonneville's playing career ended on a sour note in the 1967 Thomas Cup final in Jakarta when, past his prime, he was roundly booed by his countrymen after dropping singles matches in Indonesia's controversial loss to Malaysia. Dick Sudirman
Dick Sudirman (29 April 1922 – 10 June 1986) was a former Indonesian badminton player. Indonesia National Badminton Team
The Indonesia national badminton team represents Indonesia in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Badminton Association of Indonesia, the governing body for badminton in Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the only two countries beside China who has won all badminton discipline in the Olympic Games. The Indonesian team has not been absent from the Thomas Cup tournament (world men's team championship) since it first entered and won the competition in 1958. The Indonesia men's team has participated in Thomas Cup 28 times, won the title 14 times and never failed to qualify for inter-zone competition. Indonesia Open (badminton)
The Indonesia Open ( id, Indonesia Terbuka) in an annual badminton tournament organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) since 1982. It became part of the BWF Super Series tournament in 2007 and got the Super Series Premier status in 2011. Following the restructurisation to BWF World Tour, since 2018 it became one of only three tournaments to be granted Super 1000 level. Sutiyoso
Sutiyoso (born 6 December 1944) is an Indonesian politician and former general who was the Director of the State Intelligence Agency from 8 July 2015 - 9 September 2016. Known informally as 'Bang Yos', he was the governor of Jakarta, the country's capital, during a turbulent period from 1997. Badminton In Indonesia
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Wiranto (born 4 April 1947) is an Indonesian politician and former army general, who is serving as the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council, since December 2019.
