''PBA on KBS'' was branding used by KBS Sports for the television and radio presentation of Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games for the 1975 and 1977 seasons. It aired on Kanlaon Broadcasting System (now Radio Philippines Network). History The PBA signed a contract with Kanlaon Broadcasting System (KBS) to cover its 1975 season games for over a million pesos. In 1976, the games were covered by Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation. The coverage moved back to KBS for the 1977 season. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Description Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room. In this way, multiple shots are obtained in a single take without having to start and stop the action. This is more efficient for programs that are to be shown a short time after being shot as it reduces the time spent in film or video editing. The PBA on Solar Sports (formerly known as PBA on C/S 9 and PBA on Solar TV) was branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association basketball games produced by Solar Sports which began in the 2008-09 season. Solar Entertainment had acquired the rights to the PBA after a highly publicized bidding war with major broadcaster ABS-CBN, and aired games on several channels, including Basketball TV, the Radio Philippines Network (which Solar was operating), and later the ABS-CBN-owned Studio 23. PBA telecasts moved to AKTV after Solar's contract ended in 2011. History Bidding process The Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC) had broadcast PBA games since 2004 on its VHF Channel 5, succeeding the failed NBN and IBC consortium which left the league in debt. The Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was a Philippine television network that began operations on November 4, 1973, and ceased transmission on March 20, 1986. The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. The 1977 PBA season was the third season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Season highlights *The league's third season started on April 17 and for the first time, three referees were called to officiate the games. The opening game between Crispa and Toyota, where the Redmanizers edged out the Tamaraws, 122-121, was marred by a post-game rumble involving players from both teams that erupted at the Araneta Coliseum hardcourt and extended to the dugout. The brawl resulted in the arrest and booking of all 13 Crispa and 10 Toyota players at the stockade of Camp Crame where they were held for 13 hours.
