P. Dhanapal

	P. Dhanapal P. Dhanapal (born 16 May 1951) is an Indian politician and incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. He is a former Speaker (politics), Speaker of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. P. Dhanapal was born on 16 May 1951 in Karupur. He obtained a master's degree and is married with two children. Dhanapal was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly as an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate from Sankari (state assembly constituency), Sankagiri constituency in the 1977 Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 1977, 1980 Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 1980 and 1984 Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 1984 and 2001 Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 2001 elections. picture info	2001 Tamil Nadu State Assembly Election The twelfth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 10 May 2001. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)-led front won the elections and its general secretary, J. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister, even though she could not legally run as MLA in this election. She was unanimously nominated as Chief Minister by her party and was ready to serve her second term.
