P-Nut
311 (pronounced "three eleven") is an American rock band from Omaha, Nebraska. The band was formed in 1988 by vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum, lead guitarist Jim Watson, bassist Aaron "P-Nut" Wills, and drummer Chad Sexton. Watson was replaced by Tim Mahoney in 1990. In 1992, Doug "SA" Martinez joined as a second vocalist and turntablist. 311 has released 13 studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, four EPs and four DVDs. After a series of independent releases, 311 was signed to Capricorn Records in 1992 and released the albums ''Music'' (1993) and '' Grassroots'' (1994) to moderate success. They achieved greater success with their 1995 triple platinum self-titled album, which reached number 12 on the ''Billboard'' 200 on the strength of the singles " Down" and " All Mixed Up", the former of which topped the ''Billboard'' Hot Modern Rock Tracks in 1996. The band's next three albums—''Transistor'' (1997), '' Soundsystem'' (1999), and ''From Chaos'' (200 ...

Grassroots (album)
''Grassroots'' is the second album by 311, released on July 12, 1994. The album was intentionally recorded to have a "muddy" tone, and was recorded in a small house in Van Nuys where all of the band members lived together. This album also contains the track "Applied Science", which is a staple in 311's live show and has included a full-band drum solo since 2000. P-Nut records with a five-string Warwick bass for the first time here as well. The album was certified Gold in 1999 by the RIAA, having sold over 500,000 copies. A special vinyl edition of the record was pressed for Black Friday in 2011 at United Record Pressing in Nashville, TN. Critical reception Sandra Schulman of the ''South Florida Sun Sentinel'' chastised ''Grassroots'' for resembling "Beastie Boys meets the Spin Doctors", writing that while musical fusion is a "fine" template to work from, the album is unsuccessful for reminding them of the musical styles of other musicians, rather than presenting "something new ...

311 (album)
''311'' (commonly known as the ''Blue Album'') is the third studio album by American rock band 311, released on July 11, 1995 by Capricorn Records. The album contains the successful singles "Don't Stay Home", " All Mixed Up", and " Down", and was certified triple platinum with sales of over three million copies. Reception AllMusic's Peter Stepek was positive towards the album, saying "These riff-heavy and radio-ready songs are underscored by a tight drum sound (often with a piccolo snare), the scratching of turntables, and the crunch of heavy guitars: a formidable backdrop for this surprisingly melodic effort. The rhythms of reggae and ska percolate through this mix, and the harmonies of Nick Hexum and S.A. Martinez lend the band an edge not found in the majority of bands that feature rapping over rock beats." Rolling Stone says the album has "ear candy with good beats" and "remarkably adept at genre juggling". They also describe the album as " Beasties-cum-Chili Peppers traits ...

In 2000, before this album was recorded and released they left Capricorn Records and switched to Volcano Entertainment as their permanent label. Singles from this album include "You Wouldn't Believe", "I'll Be Here Awhile", and "Amber". The latter was the most popular single from the album, and it still remains 311's most popular single to date. Soundsystem (311 Album)
''Soundsystem'' is the fifth studio album by 311, released on October 12, 1999. ''Soundsystem'', which was certified Gold by the RIAA, was the last 311 album on Capricorn Records before the band switched to Volcano Records in 2000. Recording processes for the album began on March 11, 1999. Reception ''Rolling Stone'' discusses their mix of various genres, commenting "they offer their most ambitious fusion yet -- each track is a whirlwind tour of their soulful influences. Alas, the ingredients usually refuse to mix in 311's hands, resulting in disjunctions that veer between the bland and the unintentionally funny". Track listing Personnel Credits adapted from album’s liner notes. ;311 *Nick Hexum – vocals, guitar, programming *Chad Sexton – drums, percussion, programming *Doug "S.A." Indecent Exposure
Indecent exposure is the deliberate public exposure by a person of a portion of their body in a manner contrary to local standards of appropriate behavior. Laws and social attitudes regarding indecent exposure vary significantly in different countries. It ranges from outright prohibition of the exposure of any body parts other than the hands or face to prohibition of exposure of certain body parts, such as the genital area, buttocks or breasts. Decency is generally judged by the standards of the local community, which are seldom codified in specifics in law. Such standards may be based on religion, morality or tradition, or justified on the basis of "necessary to public order". Non-sexual exhibitionism or public nudity is sometimes considered indecent exposure. If sexual acts are performed, with or without an element of nudity, this can be considered gross indecency in some jurisdictions, which is usually a more serious criminal offence (historically, gross indecency statute ...

Transistor (311 Album)
''Transistor'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band 311, released on August 5, 1997 by Capricorn Records. The album saw a change in musical style as fewer songs feature rapping in comparison to the band's previous albums. Upon its release, ''Transistor'' received negative reviews from critics, who felt it was overlong and self-indulgent. Retrospectively, however, the album has been more positively received, and was certified platinum by the RIAA. Music Clocking in at 67:59 and with twenty-one tracks (or twenty-three, counting both hidden tracks), ''Transistor'' is 311's longest album and, until their 2017 album ''Mosaic'', was their only album to contain more than sixteen tracks. ''Transistor'' was originally intended to be a double album, but all songs were instead placed onto one disc. Nick Hexum admitted that doing too many songs in not enough time for ''Transistor'' was a mistake. While still utilizing their alternative rock sound in many songs, ''Transistor'' saw ...

Billboard (magazine)
''Billboard'' (stylized as ''billboard'') is an American music and entertainment magazine published weekly by Penske Media Corporation. The magazine provides music charts, news, video, opinion, reviews, events, and style related to the music industry. Its music charts include the Hot 100, the 200, and the Global 200, tracking the most popular albums and songs in different genres of music. It also hosts events, owns a publishing firm, and operates several TV shows. ''Billboard'' was founded in 1894 by William Donaldson and James Hennegan as a trade publication for bill posters. Donaldson later acquired Hennegan's interest in 1900 for $500. In the early years of the 20th century, it covered the entertainment industry, such as circuses, fairs, and burlesque shows, and also created a mail service for travelling entertainers. ''Billboard'' began focusing more on the music industry as the jukebox, phonograph, and radio became commonplace. Many topics it covered were spun-off ...

Alternative Songs
Alternative Airplay (formerly known as Modern Rock Tracks (1988–2009) and Alternative Songs (2009–2020)) is a music chart in the United States that has appeared in ''Billboard'' magazine since September 10, 1988. It ranks the 40 most-played songs on alternative and modern rock radio stations. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s. During the first several years of the chart, it regularly featured music that did not receive commercial radio airplay anywhere but on a few modern rock and college rock radio stations. This included many electronic and post-punk artists. Gradually, as alternative rock became more mainstream (spearheaded by the grunge explosion in the early 1990s), alternative and mainstream rock radio stations began playing many of the same songs. By the late 2000s, the gen ...

All Mixed Up (311 Song)
"All Mixed Up" is a single released by 311. It was on the album ''311'', also known as ''The Blue Album''. This album was released in 1995 and later went triple platinum, selling over 3 million copies worldwide. The song was co-written by Douglas Vincent "SA" Martinez and Nick Hexum. The duo first started working on the song during the 311 tour supporting ''Grassroots''. After the tour Martinez wrote the lyrics about feeling "confused and being unfaithful" and Hexum took the song's title from an early Elvis Presley interview in which Elvis claimed he was "all mixed up" over his new-found fame. It later became one of the band’s signature singles. The band often performs a rearranged version of the song that appears on setlists as "All Re-Mixed Up." The song uses elements of the Stalag riddim and also begins with a sample from reggae artist Yellowman's song Mister Chin on the album Mister Yellowman. Music video The music video is filmed in New York City and it features the band ...
