Oy (album)
''Oy'' is the third studio album by the Iranian singer-songwriter Mohsen Namjoo after Toranj and Jabr-e Joghrafiyaei. Released on 6 October 2009 this was Namjoo's first album produced and published outside Iran. This also was the first collaboration between Namjoo and Golshifteh Farahani in which Golshifteh plays piano and also sings in some parts. In addition to drums, piano and accordion other Iranian musical instruments including setar and Tonbak are played within the album. Two Concerts were held in Italy, one in Venice on 11 September and the other in Milan on 8 October and songs of Oy album were performed with Italian instrumentalists and Golshifteh Farahani playing the piano. Mohsen Namjoo
Mohsen Namjoo ( fa, محسن نامجو) is an Iranian singer-songwriter, composer and musician. His style of music is influenced by blues and rock as well as Iranian folk music. Early life and education Namjoo was born on 4 March 1976 in Torbat-e Jam, a small town of Razavi Khorasan in northeastern Iran. He was raised in the religious city of Mashhad. He started learning classical Persian music when he was 12. At a young age he started listening to Western music and became interested in musicians like Jim Morrison, Eric Clapton, and Chris de Burgh. He was admitted to the Tehran University of Art in 1994. Career In late 1997 and early 1998, Namjoo had his first two concerts, themed "modern combination of Iranian poetry and music". In 2003 he started recording parts of his own works in Tehran. Kurdish Music
Kurdish music refers to music performed in the Kurdish languages and Zaza-Gorani languages. The earliest study of Kurdish music was initiated by the renowned Armenian priest and composer Komitas in 1903, when he published his work ''" Chansons kurdes transcrites par le pere Komitas"'' which consisted of twelve Kurdish melodies which he had collected. The Armenian Karapetê Xaço also preserved many traditional Kurdish melodies throughout the 20th century by recording and performing them. In 1909, Scholar Isya Joseph published the work "''Yezidi works''" in which he documented the musical practice of the Yazidis including the role of the musician-like qawâl figures and the instruments used by the minority. Kurdish music appeared in phonographs in the late 1920s, when music companies in Baghdad began recording songs performed by Kurdish artists. Amir Hushang Ebtehaj ( fa, امیر هوشنگ ابتهاج; 25 February 1928 – 10 August 2022), also known by his pen name H. E. Sayeh ( fa, ه.ا.سایه, lit. ''Shadow''), was an Iranian poet of the 20th century, whose life and work spans many of Iran's political, cultural and literary upheavals. Life Ebtehaj was born 25 February 1928 in Rasht in a prominent Baha'i family in Iran and had his primary schooling there before moving to Tehran. His first book of poetry, with an introduction by eminent poet Mehdi Hamidi Shirazi, was published when he was 19 years old. A ''surah'' (; ar, سورة, sūrah, , ), is the equivalent of "chapter" in the Qur'an. There are 114 ''surahs'' in the Quran, each divided into '' ayats'' (verses). Ash-Shams ( ar, الشمس, "The Sun") is the 91st surah of the Qur'an, with 15 ayat or verses. Iranian Judicial System
A nationwide judicial system in Iran was first implemented and established by Abdolhossein Teymourtash under Reza Shah, with further changes during the second Pahlavi era.
