Oxygen (Wild Orchid Album)
''Oxygen'' is the second album by American group Wild Orchid, released in 1998. Since its release, the album has sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Production Thirty songs were written for ''Oxygen'' in a couple of months time and the ten best songs were chosen to be recorded. Wild Orchid also recorded cover versions of "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "You're No Good". The reason for the album's title was explained by Ridel in an interview with Hit Records stating that, "On this album we wanted to you know take a deep breath and leave more space, let things have room to breathe. Our sound's a little lighter and that was the concept of ''Oxygen''." Release and promotion The album was released in September 1998 and coincided with their stint as ''Guess'' spokespersons and models and as hosts of the new Fox Family reality show ''Great Pretenders'', in which kids and teens of all ages lip sync their favorite songs while competing for prizes. Wild Orchid (band)
Wild Orchid was an American girl group consisting of Fergie (singer), Stacy Ferguson, Stefanie Ridel, and Renee Sands, Renee Sandstrom. Beginning under the name "NRG" in 1990, the group changed their name to Wild Orchid in 1992 and signed with RCA Records in 1994. The group released two albums, earning Billboard Music Awards nominations with their debut. In 2001, Ferguson left the group. Sandstrom and Ridel continued as a duo, releasing Wild Orchid's final album ''Hypnotic'' in 2003. In 2013, ''Us Weekly'' named the group number 18 of the 25 'Best Girl Groups of All Time'. "You're No Good" is a song written by Clint Ballard Jr., first performed by Dee Dee Warwick for Jubilee Records in 1963 with production by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It has since been covered by many artists, including charting versions by Betty Everett in 1963, The Swinging Blue Jeans in 1964, and Linda Ronstadt in 1974, whose version was a number 1 hit in the United States. In the lyrics, the singer tells her ex that she's glad they broke up because he's "no good." We learn in the second stanza that she also broke up a previous relationship with a man who was "gentle and true." In a twist of fate, she wouldn't blame him if he said to her that she's no good. Renee Ilene Sandstrom (born February 15, 1974) is an American singer and former child actress better known by her stage name Renee Sands.
