Oxford University Handball Club
Oxford University Handball Club (OUHaC) was founded and registered as a club at the University of Oxford in 2001, and has since established itself as one of England's most successful clubs. It is a member of the England Handball Association since 2002 and the Association of British Universities Handball Clubs since 2011. As such, the OUHaC plays both in the regular English Handball League (Championship) and the Cup. Since handball is not part of the BUCS, Oxford also plays in the EHA University Championships. From 2014 it plays in the varsity match against the Cambridge University Handball Club. In 2016 and 2017 respectively, the women's and men's teams were granted Half Blue status by the Blues committees of the University of Oxford. St Patrick's College, Dublin
St Patrick's College ( ga, Coláiste Phádraig), often known as St Pat's, was a third level institution in Ireland, the leading function of which was as the country's largest primary teacher training college, which had at one time up to 2,000 students. Founded in Drumcondra, in the northern suburbs of Dublin, in 1875, with a Roman Catholic ethos, it offered a number of undergraduate courses, primarily in primary education and arts, and in time postgraduate courses too, mostly in education and languages. Riihimäki Cocks ( fi, Riihimäen Cocks) is a Finnish handball club from Riihimäki. The club is playing in the Finnish Handball League (SM-liiga), and play their home matches in Cocks Areena. History Riihimäki Cocks were founded in 1973 when the club decided to separate from RiPS. The newly founded team gained promotion to Finnish Handball Championship League during the following season. The team won their first Championship medals in 1978, when the team finished second in the championship. Riihimäki Cocks got their first Finnish handball championships in 2007 and repeated the success in 2008. Cocks also won the Finnish Cup in 2007 and 2008, winning the double two times consecutively. The Men's EHF European Cup is an annual men's handball club competition organised by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the third-tier competition of European club handball, after the EHF Champions League and the EHF European League. A blue is an award of sporting colours earned by athletes at some universities and schools for competition at the highest level. The awarding of blues began at Oxford and Cambridge universities in England. They are now awarded at a number of other British universities and at some universities in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. History The first sporting contest between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge was held on 4 June 1827, when a two-day cricket match at Lord's, organized by Charles Wordsworth, nephew of the poet William, resulted in a draw. Cambridge University Handball Club (CUHC) was founded and registered as a club at the University of Cambridge in 2013. CUHC runs competitive men’s and women's teams playing in national competitions. It is a member of the England Handball Association and the Association of British University Handball Clubs. Both the men's and the women's teams are currently holding their Varisity Trophy against Oxford (2020).
