Cambridge University Handball Club
Cambridge University Handball Club (CUHC) was founded and registered as a club at the University of Cambridge in 2013. CUHC runs competitive men’s and women's teams playing in national competitions. It is a member of the England Handball Association and the Association of British University Handball Clubs. Both the men's and the women's teams are currently holding their Varisity Trophy against Oxford (2020). Squad Men's team Women's team Competitions British University Championships The club has been taking part in the British University Championships. The men's team participated in the 2013/14 season (5th place), 2014/15 season (1st place, British University Champions) and 2015/16 season. The women's team played for the first time in the 2014/15 season (3rd place in plate finals) and continued in the 2015/16 season (1st place in plate finals). The University of Cambridge Sports Centre is the University of Cambridge's main sporting facility. History The University of Cambridge Sports Centre opened in West Cambridge in August 2013. The Physical Education Department moved its offices from Fenner's in Gresham Road to the new Centre. It was considered by many to be a long-overdue addition to the University. Facilities The Sports Centre has a 37m x 34m Sports Hall with line markings for basketball, korfball, volleyball, five-a-side football, badminton, and netball. It also has tiered seating for up to 400 spectators. A varsity match is a fixture (especially of a sporting event or team) between two university teams. The Scottish Varsity rugby match between the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh at Murrayfield stadium is claimed to be the oldest recurring varsity match in the world, having been played since the 1860s. Oxford University Handball Club
Oxford University Handball Club (OUHaC) was founded and registered as a club at the University of Oxford in 2001, and has since established itself as one of England's most successful clubs. It is a member of the England Handball Association since 2002 and the Association of British Universities Handball Clubs since 2011. As such, the OUHaC plays both in the regular English Handball League (Championship) and the Cup. Since handball is not part of the BUCS, Oxford also plays in the EHA University Championships. From 2014 it plays in the varsity match against the Cambridge University Handball Club. In 2016 and 2017 respectively, the women's and men's teams were granted Half Blue status by the Blues committees of the University of Oxford.
