Oxford 250
Oxford Plains Speedway is a 3/8 mile racetrack located in Oxford, Maine. Established in 1950, the track was originally a half mile before being shortened to a 3/8 mile track. With 14,000 seats, the speedway has the largest seating capacity of any sporting venue in Maine. The main race held there is the HP Hood Oxford 250, which has run under various sanctions over the years; in the early 1990s, the race was a combination race between the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Busch North Series, but it later became an American Canadian Tour Late Model race, and now a Pro All Star Series Super Late Model race. The 250 green flag lap race has often featured stars from NASCAR's three national series, even when it was not an Xfinity championship race in the early 1990s, as it is currently held during the NASCAR late-summer off week. Jamie Aube
Jamie Aube (born August 4, 1953) is an American stock car racing driver. He raced in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series, where he has won three consecutive championships. He also has one career win in the NASCAR Busch Series, at Oxford Plains Speedway in 1987. In 2003, Aube ran in the Craftsman Truck Series in a limited schedule, driving trucks fielded by Team Racing. In eleven starts, his best finish was seventeenth at New Hampshire International Speedway. He also served as crew chief on the team. In 2006 he returned to the NASCAR Busch East Series driving the #67 Chevrolet, garnering 1 top 10 in 7 starts. Chuck Bown
Richard Charles "Chuck" Bown Jr. (born February 22, 1954) is a former NASCAR champion. His last ride came in 1999. He lives with his wife in Asheboro, North Carolina. He is the brother of former fellow NASCAR competitor Jim Bown. 1970s Bown made his NASCAR debut in 1972 in the Winston Cup Series. At the age of seventeen, he ran the Winston Western 500 at Riverside International Raceway the No. 27 Plymouth owned by his father Dick. Bown started 22nd but finished 32nd that day after crashing on lap 88. Bown made 2 more starts in the No. 27 that year, with his best finish being fourteenth at the second Riverside race. In 1973, Bown returned to the Winston Cup Series driving his father's No. 03 Dodge, finishing in the top-10 for the first time in his career at the Tuborg 400 at Riverside. Tommy Ellis
Tommy Ellis (born August 8, 1947) is an American former stock car racing driver who competed in the 1970s and 1980s. Often referred to as "Terrible" Tommy Ellis for his rough tactics, he won the last national late model sportsman championship in 1981, the final year before the format changed from "points chasing" late model sportsman racing at various short tracks across the country (now known as the Whelen All-American Series) to the current touring format, currently known as the Xfinity Series, the next year. He won the successor series in 1988. Racing career Ellis's success (12 poles and 8 wins) in the first two seasons of the Busch Series earned him a shot at a Winston Cup ride. Geoff Bodine
Geoffrey Edwin Bodine (born April 18, 1949) is a retired American motorsport driver and bobsled builder. He is the oldest of the three Bodine brothers (with Brett Bodine and Todd Bodine), and sister Denise. Bodine lives in West Melbourne, Florida. Bodine's racing career seemed to be on track right from the start as his father and grandfather, Eli Bodine Jr. and Sr. built Chemung Speedrome just a year after he was born. He began learning his racing skills at this track in the micro-midget division when he was only five years old. He had such an itch to race that he disguised himself as a lady and entered an event known as the Powder Puff Derby when he was 15. Don Biederman
Don Biederman (February 20, 1940 – May 31, 1999) was a Canadian stock car racer from Port Credit, Ontario. Racing career Biederman was the first Canadian ever to campaign for a full season in the NASCAR Cup Series formerly known as the NASCAR Grand National Series. Biederman won the prestigious Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway, Maine in 1977, one of only four Canadians to do so, with Junior Hanley, Derek Lynch, and Dave Whitlock being the others. Biederman won the IWK 250 at Riverside International Speedway in James River, Nova Scotia on three consecutive occasions from 1979–1981. Death and legacy On May 31, 1999, Biederman died suddenly of a brain aneurysm at his home in Brantford, Ontario at the age of 59. Butch Lindley
Butch Lindley (March 25, 1948 – June 6, 1990) was a Short track racer. He was the champion of the NASCAR Sportsman Division in 1977 and 1978. Early life and start of career Clyde Lindley Jr., nicknamed Butch, was born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 25, 1948. He began racing as a boy and pursued it as a full-time career from his late teens. Lindley established himself as one of the country's premier short track drivers, winning track championships at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, and finishing first in races at short tracks throughout the United States. During his career Lindley won more than 500 races, perhaps as many as 550. During the six-year span from 1975 through 1980 he started 385 NASCAR sanctioned events and won 154 times. Modified stock car racing, also known as modified racing and modified, is a type of auto racing that involves purpose-built cars simultaneously racing against each other on oval tracks. Eddie MacDonald
Edward MacDonald (born July 7, 1980) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He most recently competed part-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2018, a series which he competed in for over a decade and a half. In addition, MacDonald raced numerous times in the American Canadian Tour between 2007 and 2018 (including two full seasons in 2016 and 2018), and in the PASS (Pro All Star Series) North. MacDonald has made starts in all three of NASCAR's national touring series, the K&N Pro Series East, and the Whelen Modified Tour. Much of MacDonald's success has home at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has five wins in the ACT, three in the Pro Series East, and one with the PASS (Pro All Star Series) North. Pro All Stars Series
The Pro All Stars Series is a stock car racing governing body active in the United States of America and Canada. The series started in 2001 and now sanctions various series including North, South, and National Super Late Model tours and a New England Modified tour. History The Pro All Stars Series started with the PASS North Pro Stock in 2001. The class was founded by former stockcar racer Tom Mayberry. The series was a successor to the Northeast Pro Stock Association and International Pro Stock Challenge. The first race was held on 20 May 2001 at Lee USA Speedway.
