Owais Husain
Owais Husain (born 1967) is a multi-media artist, painter and filmmaker. Biography Owais Husain was born in Mumbai, India, in 1967. The son of M. F. Husain and Fazila, he has two sisters, Raisa and Aqueela, and two brothers, Mustafa and Shamshad. Husain graduated in Fine Arts from the Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art in 1990. He currently resides and works in Dubai and Mumbai. Work Owais Husain is a multi-media artist whose works have been shown in both group exhibitions and solo shows. He has also worked as a Producer, Director and Writer for film and music. International multi-media artist. As an artist who has been active since the late 80s, he has explored numerous mediums through study and his produced pieces. The Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy School of Art (Sir J. J. School of Art) is the oldest art institution in Mumbai, India, and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The school grants bachelor's degrees in fine art and sculpture, and Master's degrees in fine art. History Early history The School founded in March 1857, was named after Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy, a businessman and philanthropist who donated Rs. 100,000 for its endowment. Operations were managed by a committee headed by the Chief Justice of Bombay. The School's first class was in drawing, and began on 2 March 1857. Classes were held at the Elphinstone Institution. John Griffiths became Principal of the School in 1865. "One Love" (alternately titled "One Love - Taj Anthem" or "Taj Anthem") is a single by Indian composer A.R. Rahman, which was made to commemorate the beauty of Taj Mahal and celebrate its status as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The official track list consists of six versions of the track "''One Love''" rendered in six different languages, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Bengali. ''Gaja Gamini'' (English: ''Woman with an elephant's gait.'') is a 2000 Indian film written and directed by M. F. Husain and is his ode to womanhood and his muse of the time, Madhuri Dixit, who stars as the lead in the film with Shahrukh Khan and Naseeruddin Shah. The film was a box office disaster. Plot The central figure of the film is represented by a mysterious figure called "Gaja Gamini", who inspires, arouses, and confuses the common man. "Gaja Gamini" is the inspiration behind Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa', Kalidas' poem "Shakuntala", and a photojournalist named Shahrukh's photographs.
