Overbrook, Ottawa
Overbrook is an urban neighbourhood situated in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward, in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located across the Rideau River from the neighbourhood of Sandy Hill and is just to the south of Vanier. To the east of Overbrook is the former City of Gloucester. It was constituted as a police village in 1922 and was annexed by the City of Ottawa in 1950. Overbrook covers an area of 3.04 square kilometres and has a population density of 3,174 people per square kilometre (2011 Census). Overbrook's main street is Queen Mary Street, which runs from North River Road to St. Laurent Boulevard. Although predominantly a residential neighbourhood at Overbrook's south end is Coventry Road where commercial and office buildings are found along with a major shopping centre (St. Laurent Centre) at the intersection with St. Laurent Boulevard. Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward
Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's east end, the ward covers the neighbourhoods of New Edinburgh, Manor Park, Rockcliffe Park, Wateridge Village, Overbrook, Lindenlea, Viscount Alexander Park, Carson Meadows, Cardinal Glen, Rockcliffe Mews, Forbes, Castle Heights and part of Carson Grove. Prior to amalgamation, the area was part of Rideau Ward. The name "Rideau Ward" has been applied to this area since New Edinburgh was annexed by Ottawa in 1887. It was first contested in the 1887 municipal election, and was known as New Edinburgh Ward in the 1887 and 1888 elections. This recent incarnation of Rideau Ward was created in 1994 from Overbrook-Forbes Ward and part of By-Rideau Ward. Tremblay is an O-Train station on the Confederation Line in Ottawa, Ontario which serves the Ottawa station, Ottawa train station, connecting to Via Rail Québec City–Windsor Corridor (Via Rail), Corridor inter-city rail services and a daily Ontario Northland Motor Coach Services, Ontario Northland bus service to Sudbury Ontario Northland Bus Terminal, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Forbes, Ottawa
Forbes is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is defined by the city as being bounded on the North by Montreal Road, on the east by the Aviation Parkway, on the west and south by the former municipal boundary of the city, and on the southwest by McArthur Avenue. However, the area west of St. Laurent Boulevard is part of the Overbrook Community Association, and most maps show Forbes as being east of St. Laurent. Statistics Canada conducts a country-wide census that collects demographic data every five years on the first and sixth year of each decade. South Asian Canadians are Canadians who were either born in or can trace their ancestry to the Indian subcontinent, which includes the nations of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Maldives. Arab Canadians (french: Arabo-Canadiens) come from all of the countries of the Arab world. According to the 2021 Census, there were 694,015 Canadians, or 1.87%, who claimed Arab ancestry. According to the 2011 Census there were 380,620 Canadians who claimed full or partial ancestry from an Arabic-speaking country. The large majority of the Canadians of Arab origin population live in either Ontario or Quebec. Black Canadian
Black Canadians (also known as Caribbean-Canadians or Afro-Canadians) are people of full or partial sub-Saharan African descent who are citizens or permanent residents of Canada. European Canadians, or Euro-Canadians, are Canadians who were either born in or can trace their ancestry to the continent of Europe. They form the largest panethnic group within Canada. In the 2021 Canadian census, 19,062,115 Canadians self-identified as having origins from European countries, forming approximately 52.5% of the total Canadian population. Due to changes in the census format, these totals are not directly comparable with previous censuses.
