Out On My Own (Michelle Song)
The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Out on My Own" written by Dirk-Jan Vermeij and André Remkes. The song was performed by Michelle. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) organised the national final ''Nationaal Songfestival 2001'' in order to select the Dutch entry for the 2001 contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. Six entries competed in the national final on 3 March 2001 where "Out on My Own" performed by Michelle was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from three jury panels and a public vote. The Netherlands competed in the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2001. Michelle Courtens (born 3 August 1981), performing as Michelle, is a Dutch singer, who is known from her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. She was born in Venray, The Netherlands. Herreys (), sometimes Herrey's or Herrey, is a Swedish pop group, consisting of the three brothers Per Herrey (born 9 August 1958), Richard Herrey (born 19 August 1964), and Louis Herrey (born 3 November 1966). Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with "Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Hendrik Otto "Henk" Westbroek (born 27 February 1952) is a Dutch radiohost, singer, songwriter and former owner of a café named 'Stairway to Heaven' in the city of Utrecht. He was also a political activist for Leefbaar Utrecht and Leefbaar Nederland in 1998. The Buma Cultuur Foundation (formerly known as the Foundation Conamus) is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes Dutch music. Willem Van Beusekom
Willem Jacobus Marius van Beusekom (4 May 1947 – 21 May 2006) was a Dutch broadcaster and television presenter. He was also active as a radio DJ and especially enjoyed fame as a Dutch television commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest, which he did from 1987 to 2005.
