Eurovision Song Contest 1969
The Eurovision Song Contest 1969 was the 14th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Madrid, Spain, following the country's victory at the with the song " La La La" by Massiel. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (TVE), the contest was held at the on 29 March 1969 and was hosted by Spanish television presenter and actress Laurita Valenzuela. Sixteen countries took part in the contest with deciding not to participate this year. At the close of voting, four countries were declared joint-winners: the with " Boom Bang-a-Bang" by Lulu, with "" by Salomé, the with " De troubadour" by Lenny Kuhr, and with " Un jour, un enfant" by Frida Boccara. Laurita Valenzuela
Rocío Espinosa López-Cepero (18 February 1931 – 17 March 2023), known professionally as Laura or Laurita Valenzuela (), was a Spanish television presenter, actress and model. She was one of the first television presenters in Spain appearing in the early broadcasts of Televisión Española (TVE). In 1969, she hosted the Eurovision Song Contest held in Madrid. Valenzuela received the Iris Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Spanish Television Academy in 2012. Biography Born in Seville on 18 February 1931, her first job was in a store in Madrid as a ''haute couture'' model. She made her film debut in 1954 and she was one of the first television presenters in Spain when Televisión Española (TVE) was launched in 1956. Frida Boccara
Danielle Frida Hélène Boccara (29 October 1940 – 1 August 1996) was a French singer of Italian descent, who performed and recorded in a number of languages, including French, Spanish, English, Italian, German, Dutch and Russian. Early life Boccara was born in Casablanca, Morocco, into a family of Italian origin that lived in Tunisia before they settled in Morocco. When she was 17, she moved from Casablanca to Paris, France, where she eventually started her artistic career as a singer. Louis Neefs
Louis Neefs (born Ludwig Adèle Maria Jozef Neefs, 8 August 1937 – 25 December 1980) was a Belgian singer and presenter, known for his participation in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1967 and 1969. Early career Neefs was training for a career in technical drawing at college in Mechelen when he joined the college choir and started learning to play guitar. At first his musical activities were purely recreational, but by the late 1950s he had become a member of a group called Sun Spot. Via performances and talent competitions, Neefs' distinctive singing voice came to the notice of famous musical talent scout Jacques Kluger, who had also discovered, among others, Bobbejaan Schoepen. Kluger and Schoepen brought Neefs to the attention of record companies, and he was signed to a contract in 1958, releasing his first album in 1960. Kirsti Sparboe
Kirsti Sparboe (born 7 December 1946) is a Norwegian musical performer and an actress. Most of her musical career has been built on participation in the widely-popular Eurovision Song Contest in which she competed three times and scored a grand total of four points. Kirsti Sparboe was born on 7 December 1946 in Tromsø, Norway. She first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 when she was 18, with the song "Karusell", which came in 13th place. She then participated in the 1966 Norwegian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Gi Meg Fri", which came in second. In 1967, her song "Dukkemann" won the pre-selection, and came in 14th place in Eurovision.
