Our Health Partnership
Our Health Partnership is a large provider of primary care services in Birmingham and Shropshire established in November 2015. Our Health Partnership is one of the UK’s biggest general practitioner partnerships. It brings together 47 surgeries in the Midlands and Shropshire. It is described as a super-partnership which will generate efficiencies of scale when compared with traditional general practice in the UK. It claims that the constituent practices will retain their own operational autonomy. The partnership is proposing to lead primary care networks across the country including practices not in their organisation. Healthcare In West Midlands
Healthcare in the West Midlands was, until July 2022, the responsibility of five clinical commissioning groups: Birmingham and Solihull, Sandwell and West Birmingham, Dudley, Wolverhampton, and Walsall. History From 1947 to 1974 NHS services in the West Midlands were managed by the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board. In 1974 the boards were abolished and replaced by regional health authorities. The West Midlands still came under the Birmingham RHA. Regions were reorganised in 1996 and the area came under the West Midlands Regional Health Authority. From 1974 there were six area health authorities covering North, South, East, West and Central Birmingham, together with authorities covering Dudley, Sandwell, Coventry, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton. The Midlands (also referred to as Central England) are a part of England that broadly correspond to the Kingdom of Mercia of the Early Middle Ages, bordered by Wales, Northern England and Southern England. Primary Care Network
A Primary care network is a structure which brings general practitioners together on an area basis, possibly with other clinicians, to address chronic disease management and prevention. In 2022 the term is used in England, Singapore and Alberta. England Primary care networks were introduced into the National Health Service in England as part of the NHS Long Term Plan, published in January 2019. The 2019 General Practitioner contract gave the opportunity for GP practices to join networks, each with between 30,000 and 50,000 patients. The stated aim is to create fully integrated community-based health services which will be an important component of integrated care systems. They are based on GP registered patient lists, and intended to serve natural communities of between 30,000 and 50,000 people.
