Ottawa Junior Riders
The Ottawa Junior Riders are a Canadian football team based in the Nepean area of Ottawa that plays in the Quebec Junior Football League. The Junior Riders play at the Nepean Sportsplex, but have previously called Frank Clair Stadium at Lansdowne Park their home. History The team began operations in 1995 as the Gloucester Redskins, and operated as such until the conclusion of the 1996 QJFL season. With the folding of the CFL's Ottawa Rough Riders, the Gloucester Redskins changed their name to the current Ottawa Junior Riders and changed their colors from burgundy, yellow and white, to the current red, black and white. The organization began competing in the Quebec Junior Football League in 1995, and did so until the end of the 2000 season. Dean Dorsey
Dean Dorsey (born March 13, 1957 in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian football placekicker in the Canadian Football League and the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Toronto. Dorsey took over kicking duties with the Toronto Argonauts with the departure of Zenon Andrusyshyn during the 1982 CFL season, playing seven regular season and two playoff games. He began a long association with Ottawa football in the 1984 CFL season playing through the 1990 CFL season. He has gone on to coach the Ottawa Junior Riders from 1997 to 1998 and was a volunteer coach for the Ottawa Renegades. Ettore Lattanzio (born December 27, 1990) is a former professional Canadian football defensive lineman who played in five seasons in the Canadian Football League, primarily for the Ottawa Redblacks. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Ottawa Renegades were a Canadian Football League franchise based in Ottawa, Ontario founded in 2002, six years after the storied Ottawa Rough Riders folded. After four seasons, the Renegades franchise was suspended indefinitely by the league due to financial instability, and its players were absorbed by the other teams in a dispersal draft. After two years in limbo, the Renegades franchise was awarded to Jeff Hunt, best known as the owner of the Ottawa 67's, in March 2008.
