Ottawa International Animation Festival
The Ottawa International Animation Festival is an annual animated film and media festival that takes place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The OIAF was founded in 1975, with the first festival held from August 10 to 15 in 1976. Initially organized by the Canadian Film Institute on a biennial basis and with the co-operation of the International Animated Film Association, the Festival organization now remains in the hands of the CFI. It moved from a biennial to an annual festival in 2005. Today the festival is recognized as the largest animation festival in North America, and regularly attracts upwards of 25,000 attendees when it is held each September. The ABU Song Festivals are non-competitive song concert galas based on the Eurovision Song Contest. The format consists of two shows, a Radio Song Festival and TV Song Festival, organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). Participating countries that have full or additional full ABU membership are invited to submit a song to be performed in front of a live audience. The radio festival was a competitive show with a panel of judges determining the top-5 prize winners and is broadcast via live radio that later transitioned to a non-competitive gala format. The television festival which is a non-competitive, musical gala presentation, is live recorded so that each of the national broadcasters may add subtitles in their native languages. Hisko Hulsing
Hisko Hulsing (born July 7, 1971 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch director, animator, composer, painter and storyboard artist. His animated films won many awards, including the Grand Prize for ''Junkyard'' at the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival and the Grand Prize at the Shanghai Television Festival. Hisko Hulsing's film ''Junkyard'' had its online release in 2014 on Vimeo and was chosen as Top Ten video 2014 by Vimeo Staff, Vice USA and SOTW. Hisko Hulsing composes the orchestral soundtracks for his animated films. Max Andersson (born 1962) is a Swedish comic creator and film maker, mostly doing " underground style" and "artistic" comics. His comics have mainly been published in Swedish albums, and in the Swedish art magazine ''Galago''. ''Seth’s Dominion'' is a 2014 National Film Board of Canada animated/live action documentary directed by Luc Chamberland about the Canadian cartoonist Seth. Production ''Seth’s Dominion'' took Chamberland eight years to create, from conception to release. Chamberland first discovered the work of Seth—whose real name is Gregory Gallant—while he was living in London. Chamberland, who had aspired to being a comic book artist himself, was immediately drawn to the Ontario-born cartoonist's work: Chamberland first approached Seth at a comic book conference in Montreal. ''I Like Girls'' (french: J'aime les filles) is a Canadian short animated film, directed by Diane Obomsawin and released in 2016. Based on Obomsawin's 2014 graphic novel ''On Loving Women'', the film features anthropomorphic animal characters acting out stories of lesbian same-sex attraction. The film won the prize for Best Short Film at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2016. Jean-François Laguionie
Jean-François Laguionie (born 10 October 1939 in Besançon) is a French animator, film director and producer of animation. Biography Laguionie was originally interested in theatre but his encounter with Paul Grimault gave him the opportunity to learn the techniques of animated film. Though they were very close to each other, Paul Grimault and Jean-François Laguionie rarely worked together (though Grimault produced Laguionie's first three shorts).
