Oslo ATCC
Oslo Air Traffic Control Center or Oslo ATCC ( no, Oslo Kontrollsentral) is responsible for the controlled airspace above Eastern Norway. The area control center is located in Røyken, between Oslo and Drammen. The Control Center is owned and operated by Avinor Flysikring, a subsidiary of the state enterprise Avinor. Avinor's board had originally decided to close Oslo ATCC in 2008, transferring its responsibilities to Stavanger ATCC and a planned new terminal control center at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. However, new management first postponed the actual closing, by redefining Oslo ATCC as an approach control with surrounding feeder sectors. In 2013 Avinor decided to create Norway ACC, consisting of the centres in Bodø, Stavanger and Røyken, billed as one ATC unit with three separate locations. Controlled Airspace
Controlled airspace is airspace of defined dimensions within which air traffic control (ATC) services are provided. The level of control varies with different classes of airspace. Controlled airspace usually imposes higher weather minimums than are applicable in uncontrolled airspace. It is the opposite of uncontrolled airspace. Østlandet
Eastern Norway ( nb, Østlandet, nn, Austlandet) is the geographical region of the south-eastern part of Norway. It consists of the counties Vestfold og Telemark, Viken, Oslo and Innlandet. In air traffic control, an area control center (ACC), also known as a center or en-route center, is a facility responsible for controlling aircraft flying in the airspace of a given flight information region (FIR) at high altitudes between airport approaches and departures. In the US, such a center is referred to as an air route traffic control center (ARTCC). A center typically accepts traffic from — and ultimately passes traffic to — the control of a Terminal control area, terminal control center or another center. Røyken
Røyken is a district and village (''bygd'') and a former municipality in Buskerud in Viken County, Norway. In 2020 Røyken was merged with the municipalities of Hurum and Asker to form the new Asker Municipality (informally called "Greater Asker") located in the newly formed Viken county. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Drammen () is a city and municipality in Viken (county), Viken, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Oslo Airport ( no, Oslo lufthavn; ), alternatively referred to as Oslo Gardermoen Airport or simply Gardermoen, is the international airport serving Oslo, Norway, the capital and most populous city in the country.
