Oshigambo High School
Oshigambo High School, also Oshigambo Senior Secondary School, is a school in Oshigambo in the Oshikoto Region of northern Namibia. It is situated approximately 30 km east of Ondangwa. Oshigambo High School is surrounded by some of the special features which make it a tourist attraction. The school buildings sandwich a river which flows from Angola to the Kunene River. On its shores there is the well-known fig tree ''omukwiyugwemanya'', this name is derived from he nature of the tree, the fact that it grew on a rock. Oshigambo High School is one of the oldest schools in the northern part of Namibia. It first came into existence in 1960 and was in good management of its first principal Toivo Tirronen, a Finnish national. Sakeus Edward Twelityaamena "Sacky" Shanghala (born 13 June 1977) is a Namibian lawyer and politician who served as the Minister of Justice from 8 February 2018 until November 2019 when he was forced to resign in the wake of the Fishrot scandal. He previously also served as Attorney General of Namibia from 2015 to 2018. Shanghala is a former chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission which he chaired between 2010 and 2015. The ''New Era'' is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country, the others being ''The Namibian'' (English and Oshiwambo), ''Die Republikein'' (Afrikaans) and '' Allgemeine Zeitung'' (German). ''New Era'' was created by the ''New Era Publications Corporation Act of 1992''. According to Ullamaija Kivikuru, it copied the format of ''The Namibian'' in order to establish credibility. Major General Petrus "Peter" Kagadhinwa Nambundunga (3 June 1947, Onesi Constituency – 14 January 2019, Ongwediva) was a Namibian military commander. Nambundunga was appointed the commander of the army in 2005, replacing Martin Shalli when he was promoted to chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF). Pendukeni "Penny" Iivula-Ithana (born 11 October 1952) is a Namibian politician who served as the secretary general of SWAPO, Namibia's ruling party, from 2007 to 2012. Eddie Shimwethelini Amkongo (born 1 December 1945) is a Namibian civil servant and diplomat. A chief diplomat with SWAPO and later independent Namibia, Amkongo was appointed chairperson of the Public Service Commission in 2006. Early life and exile Born near Ondangwa, Amkongo studied at Oshigambo High School in Oshigambo, Oshikoto Region in the 1960s and he was found with SWAPO publications and letters from friend Helmut Angula from the Soviet Union. He later became a leading organizer for SWAPO in northern Namibia. From 1971-72, Amkongo studied at Turfloop University, a black-only university in South Africa. Fransisco Aupa Indongo (born January 15 1936), is a prominent Namibian businessman and former politician. Oshikoto Region
Oshikoto is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, named after Lake Otjikoto. Its capital is Omuthiya.
