Oscar Walker
Oscar Walker (March 18, 1854 – May 20, 1889), was an American professional baseball player who played center fielder, center field and at first baseman, first base for five different teams in six seasons, from 1875 to 1885. Walker played for the Brooklyn Atlantics, Buffalo Bisons (NL), Buffalo Bisons, St. Louis Brown Stockings, and the Baltimore Orioles (19th century), Baltimore Orioles. Walker died at the age of 35, and is interred at the Cemetery of the Evergreens, Brooklyn, Cemetery of the Evergreens in his hometown of Brooklyn. Center Fielder
A center fielder, abbreviated CF, is the outfielder in baseball who plays defense in center field – the baseball and softball fielding position between left field and right field. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the center fielder is assigned the number 8. Position description Outfielders must cover large distances, so speed, instincts and quickness to react to the ball are key. They must be able to catch fly balls above their heads and on the run. They must be able to throw the ball accurately over a long distance to be effective. As well as the requirements above, the center fielder must be the outfielder who has the best combination of speed and throwing distance. Brooklyn Atlantics (AA) Players
The Atlantic Base Ball Club of Brooklyn ("Atlantic" or the "Brooklyn Atlantics") was baseball's first champion and its first dynasty. The team was also the first baseball club to visit the White House in 1865 at the invitation of President Andrew Johnson.
