Oscar Chelimo
Oscar Chelimo (born 12 December 2001) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. His older brother, Jacob Kiplimo is also an elite long-distance runner. Career In 2018, he finished in 7th place in the men's 5000 metres event at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships held in Tampere, Finland. In 2018, he also competed in the boys' 3000 metres at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina and he won the bronze medal. He represented Uganda at the 2019 African Games held in Rabat, Morocco. He competed in the men's 5000 metres and he finished in 5th place. In that same year, he also competed in the men's 5000 metres event at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar though he did not qualify to compete in the final. In 2020, he won the men's race of the BOclassic held in Bolzano, Italy. On 12 May 2021, Oscar Chelimo raced a 5000m in Bergamo, Italy finishing 3rd in 13:06.79, and Olympic qualifying time. Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the Games. They were due to be held from 31 July – 9 August 2020, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021, with the track and field events set for 30 July – 8 August.
