Orsa Lia
Orsa Lia, born in Virginia, is a singer. She recorded some jingles for television commercials in the 1970s before signing on with an upstart record label, Infinity Records, in the late 1970s. She is best known for the song, "I Never Said I Love You", which was written and produced by Hal David and Archie Jordan. David had been a longtime collaborator with Burt Bacharach on many well-known songs, most notably for singer Dionne Warwick. Country singer Barbara Mandrell recorded "I Never Said I Love You" on her 1976 lp "Midnight Angel". Although "I Never Said I Love You" only reached number 84 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 pop singles chart in April 1979, the song did spend one week at number one on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart that same month. Infinity Records
Infinity Records was a short-lived subsidiary of MCA Records established in New York City in 1978. The label was conceived by MCA president Sidney Sheinberg as a way for the Los Angeles-based entertainment conglomerate to improve its presence on the East Coast. Ron Alexenberg, who had previously been the head of the Epic Records division of CBS Records (now part of Sony Music Entertainment) was hired as CEO. The biggest hit the Infinity label had was "Escape" by Rupert Holmes, which was number 1 at the end of 1979. Other acts that had chart entries on Infinity included Hot Chocolate, Dobie Gray, New England, Orleans, Orsa Lia and Spyro Gyra. Hal David
Harold Lane David (May 25, 1921 – September 1, 2012) was an American lyricist. He grew up in New York City. He was best known for his collaborations with composer Burt Bacharach and his association with Dionne Warwick. Early life David was born in New York City, a son of Austrian Jewish immigrants Lina (née Goldberg) and Gedalier David, who owned a delicatessen in New York. He is the younger brother of American lyricist and songwriter Mack David. Career David is credited with popular music lyrics, beginning in the 1940s with material written for bandleader Sammy Kaye and for Guy Lombardo. He worked with Morty Nevins of The Three Suns on four songs for the feature film ''Two Gals and a Guy'' (1951), starring Janis Paige and Robert Alda. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group.
