Eystein Orre
Eystein Orre (Old Norse: ''Eysteinn Orri''; died 25 September 1066) was a Norwegian noble who was killed at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. Eystein was betrothed to King Harald's daughter by Elisiv of Kiev, Maria Haraldsdotter, Maria and according to Heimskringla was "best beloved by the king of all the lendermen". Eystein was among those to accompany Harald in his invasion of England in 1066. Harald and his army first encountered resistance at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Scarborough, where the townsfolk refused to surrender. Harald resorted to burning down the town and this action led to other Northumbrian towns surrendering to him. The army sailed further down the Humber until they disembarked at Riccall. Harald's army then encountered the earls Morcar and Edwin, Earl of Mercia, Edwin; they fought against Harald's invading army two miles (3 km) south of York at the Battle of Fulford on 20 September. Magne Orre (born 16 April 1950) is a Norwegian cyclist. He was born in Notodden. He competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where he placed fifth in the team time trial with the Norwegian team, which consisted of Knut Knudsen, Thorleif Andresen, Arve Haugen and Orre. Orre is a village and parish in Klepp municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located just southwest of the lake Orrevatnet, between the lake and the ocean. Orre is the location of the Orrestranda beach, one of the longest sand beaches in Norway. The area is very flat, and it is primarily used for agriculture. Old Orre Church ( no, Orre gamle kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Klepp Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Orre. It formerly was the main church for the Orre parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The small stone church was built in a long church style around the year 1250 using designs by English monks. The church seats about 150 people. It is situated on a small sandy strip of land between the lake Orrevatnet and the Orrestranda beach along the North Sea.
