Orquesta Ciudad De Granada
The Granada City Orchestra (in Spanish: ''Orquesta Ciudad de Granada'', OCG) is a Spanish orchestra based in Granada, Spain. Its primary concert venue is the ''Auditorio Manuel de Falla''. The City of Granada and the provincial council of Andalusia founded the OCG in 1988 at the initiative of Patrick Meadows and Antonio Navarro, the Director of the ''Auditorio Manuel de Falla''Misha Rachlevskywas the founding director and artistic director. Juan de Udeata was the orchestra's principal conductor from 1990 to 1994. Subsequent principal conductors have been Josep Pons (1994–2004) and Jean-Jacques Kantorow (2004–2008). The current principal conductor is Andrea Marcon, since the 2012–2013 season. The OCG has recorded commercially for such labels as harmonia mundi. Andrea Marcon (born 6 February 1963 in Treviso, Italy) is an Italian conductor, organist, harpsichordist, and scholar. Josep Pons
Josep Pons (born Josep Pons i Viladomat; 1957) is a Spanish conductor. Biography Pons was born in Puig-reig, Berguedà. He received his musical training at L'Escolania de Montserrat and continued his musical studies in Barcelona with such teachers as Josep Soler i Sardà (composition) and Antoni Ros-Marbà (conducting). In 1985, Pons founded the ''Orquestra de Cambra Teatre Lliure'' (Chamber Orchestra of the Teatre Lliure). He directed the Coral Càrmina from 1988 to 1990. He was the musical director for the 1992 Summer Olympics. Pons was the first artistic director of the ''Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Catalunya'', later the ''Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya'', from 1993 to 2001. Jean-Jacques Kantorow
Jean-Jacques Kantorow (born 3 October 1945) is a French violinist and conductor. His son is the pianist Alexandre Kantorow. Biography Kantorow was born in Cannes, France, into a family of Russian-Jewish origin. From the age of 13 he studied at the Paris Conservatoire with René Benedetti, and in 1960 won the first violin prize. In the 1960s he won ten major international prizes, including first prizes in the Carl Flesch Competition (London), the (Genoa) Paganini Competition, and the Geneva International Competition. Since the 1970s he has been noted for his solo performances in a very wide range of repertoire (from Baroque music to contemporary), and as a chamber music performer. His recordings have won many awards, including the Grand Prix du Disque and the Grand Prix de l’Académie Franz Liszt.
