Orodruin (band)
Orodruin is an American doom metal band from Rochester, New York, who play traditional doom as part of the style's early-2000s revival, playing alongside bands like Reverend Bizarre, While Heaven Wept, and Penance. Their sophomore release ''Ruins of Eternity'' came out on Cruz Del Sur Records on October 25, 2019. Orodruin began in 1998. Bridging the love for Tolkien with doom metal with influences like Saint Vitus, Candlemass, Cathedral, Trouble and Black Sabbath. In its primal stages John Gallo (then singer/guitarist), cousin Nick Tydelski (guitar) and best friend Mike Puleo (guitar) recorded an early demo in late 1998/1999. It was recorded with engineer Sebastian Marino (Overkill) at Audio Images and hired drummer Rob Mount (Ramrod, Lou Graham Band). Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Reverend Bizarre
Reverend Bizarre was a doom metal band from Finland. Formed in 1995, they played slow and heavy traditional doom with dramatic vocals, following in the footsteps of bands such as Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Black Sabbath. The band was one of the biggest names in 2000s traditional doom metal. History Beginnings (1994–1999) The band was formed in 1994 in Lohja. After their military service, Albert Witchfinder, Peter Vicar and Juippi began playing in autumn 1997. In the summer of 1998, Albert moved to Turku to continue Reverend Bizarre with Vicar. To complete their training, they get back in touch with Earl of Void, at this time recently released from prison. They recorded the ''Slice of Doom'' demo in three days (16, 17 and 23 August 1999), which they send to several labels in the hope of signing a contract. While Heaven Wept (often abbreviated as WHW) was an American epic doom metal band based in Dale City, Virginia. The primary writer and overall engine of the band was mainman Tom Phillips. Their melodic, classically influenced style could be compared to bands such as Solitude Aeturnus and Solstice (the latter of which Tom Phillips is a former member); however, 2003's acclaimed '' Of Empires Forlorn'' saw the band branching out into a variety of metal and progressive styles. This trend continues on their 2009 album, '' Vast Oceans Lachrymose'', and on their 2011 album, '' Fear of Infinity''. Penance (band)
Penance was an American doom metal band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Biography Penance was formed after the demise of Dream Death, when several members decided to pursue a more traditional doom direction. Dream Death existed during mid eighties and played a mixture of doom, hardcore and thrash metal. Founders of Penance were drummer Mike Smail and guitarist Terry Weston (both previously members of Dream Death) and they were the core of the band from its early days to the disbanding. The band changed various line-ups, and one of their most notable members were Mary Bielich (Novembers Doom). Penance's debut ''The Road Less Travelled'', featuring Brian Lawrence (who was also previously a member of Dream Death) on vocals and guitar, was released 1992, under Lee Dorrian's label Rise Above Records. Revelation is an American doom metal band from Maryland. Biography Revelation started in 1986 by singer/guitarist John Brenner and drummer Steve Branagan. After numerous demos they were featured on Rise Above Records compilation ''Dark Passages''. They put out one album with Rise Above before signing with Hellhound Records. They put out two albums with Hellhound before breaking up. In 2003 Miskatonic Records released ''Frozen Masque'', which featured two demos from 1996 as well as live material. The band has played numerous shows since 2003. Some members of the band formed Against Nature in 2004. In 2007, Leaf Hound Records re-released ''Never Comes Silence'' and announced plans to reissue both ''Salvation's Answer'' and an unreleased album. Iron Man (band)
Iron Man was an American heavy metal band from Maryland. Biography Iron Man began as a Black Sabbath tribute band in 1986 when Alfred Morris III (guitar) and Kim Geoffrey Martin (drums) of Force decided to take all the Black Sabbath songs that they had mixed in to the Force set list since 1976 and start a band dedicated to Alfred's favorite group. Regular rehearsals were held in Kim Martin's mother's home in Bethesda MD with the set lists refined. Alfred suggested that the name Iron Man was to be used whenever the exclusive list of Black Sabbath covers were performed. Kim Martin quit the tribute band a year later to pursue full time variety work. Approximately two years later, Iron Man became an all-original act with Alfred Morris III driving the band vision and sound. Alfred Morris III continued to write songs, utilizing and combining the large catalog of riffs he had built and saved over the years. Blood Ceremony is a Canadian rock band formed in 2006 in Toronto, Ontario. Blood Ceremony's style has been described as "flute-tinged witch rock" and their lyrics are filled with black magic imagery and references to classic horror films.
