Orlando Méndez-Valdez
Orlando Homer Méndez-Valdez (born April 29, 1986) is an American-born Mexican professional basketball player for the Capitanes de Ciudad de México of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. High school career Mendez-Valdez attended Lanier High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated in 2004. He was named the San Antonio Player of the year his senior year and first team All State honors, and his jersey number was retired in 2009. Mendez-Valdez attended prep school at Charis Prep in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He won the MVP award in the Bull City Classic, and led the team to a championship at the tournament. College career At the collegiate level, Mendez-Valdez played for Western Kentucky University from 2005 to 2009. NBA G League
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm team, farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. Tyrone Brazelton
Tyrone Brazelton (born March 30, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Levski Sofia of the NBL. He plays at the point guard position. He won a Polish Championship in 2009 with the club Prokom. On October 2, 2016 Brazelton won the Polish Super-Cup and was named the MVP. College career Born in Chicago, Illinois, Brazelton initially played basketball for the Rich East High School, but transferred to the rival Rich Central High School during his senior year. Courtney Lee
Courtney Lee (born October 3, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball at Western Kentucky University. Lee was drafted by the Orlando Magic with the 22nd overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft and was traded in June 2009 to the New Jersey Nets. In August 2010, he was traded to the Houston Rockets. In July 2012, Lee was dealt to the Boston Celtics. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in January 2014 before being dealt to the Charlotte Hornets in February 2016. Sidney Lanier High School is a local public high school of the San Antonio Independent School District in the westside of San Antonio, Texas (United States). Serving the San Antonio Independent School District, Lanier boasts an enrollment of more than 1700 students. History Sidney Lanier High School first opened in 1915 as McKinley Elementary School. The school is named after Confederate poet Sidney Lanier, who came to San Antonio in 1872 in search of a cure for tuberculosis. The 2013 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas, for the 2014 FIBA World Cup, in Spain. FIBA AmeriCup
The FIBA AmeriCup (previously known as the FIBA Americas Championship) is the Americas Basketball Championship that takes place every four years between national teams of the Western Hemisphere continents. Since FIBA organised the entire Western Hemisphere west of the Atlantic Ocean under one zone, countries from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America compete in this tournament. Through the 2015 edition, the Americas Championship took place every two years, and was also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games. However, since 2017, the AmeriCup, along with all other FIBA continental championships for men are played once every four years. Basketball competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara were held from October 21 to October 30 at the CODE Dome. Each team was allowed to enter a maximum of twelve athletes.
