Oregon's 8th Senate District
District 8 of the Oregon State Senate comprises northwestern Linn County and northeastern Benton County, centered around Albany and Corvallis. It is currently represented by Democrat Sara Gelser of Corvallis. Election results District boundaries have changed over time, therefore, senators before 2013 may not represent the same constituency as today. Oregon () is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho. Betsy Close
Betsy L. Close (born May 4, 1950) is a Republican politician who served in the Oregon State Senate. Close was sworn into office in October 2012, replacing Frank Morse, who retired before his term ended. Dan A. Rayfield (born March 1, 1979) is an American politician serving as the Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives representing the 16th district, which includes Corvallis and Philomath. Early life and education Rayfield was born in Orange County, California. After moving to Oregon, he attended Tigard High School. Rayfield later graduated from Western Oregon University in 2003 and went on to earn his J.D. degree from Willamette University College of Law. Margaret Carter
Margaret Louise Carter (née Hunter; December 29, 1935) is an American politician who was a Democratic member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1999 and 2001 to 2009 and was the first black woman elected to the state's legislature. She served in the Oregon House of Representatives until 1999, and then in the Oregon State Senate from 2001 to 2009. Oregon State Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. There are 30 members of the state Senate, representing 30 districts across the state, each with a population of 127,700. The state Senate meets in the east wing of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Oregon state senators serve four-year terms without term limits.
