Order Of The Sinai Star
The Order of the Sinai Star is a two-degree military order in Egypt. It is Egypt's highest military honor, awarded for personal acts of extraordinary gallantry and intrepidity in direct combat with the enemy. The order is awarded to officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Egyptian Armed Forces. A total of 68 officers and soldiers have been awarded the order. It was created in 1972, and it consists of a ribbon and a medal. The ribbon of the first and second degree consists of three horizontal lines, red, white, black, and an extra golden eagle is placed on the ribbon for first degree recipients. Privileges and courtesies The Order confers special privileges on its recipients, including: * A monthly reward of £E20,000 for the first degree, and £E10,000 for the second degree. Hosni Mubarak
Muhammad Hosni El Sayed Mubarak, (; 4 May 1928 – 25 February 2020) was an Egyptian politician and military officer who served as the fourth president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. Before he entered politics, Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force. He served as its commander from 1972 to 1975 and rose to the rank of air chief marshal in 1973. In 1975, he was appointed vice president by President Anwar Sadat and assumed the presidency after his assassination in 1981. The Order of Honor Star is one of Egypt's highest military decorations. It is awarded to the officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers of the Egyptian Armed Forces for performing acts of extraordinary gallantry and intrepidity in direct combat with the enemy. Ahmed Hamdi
Ahmed Hamdi (20 May 1929 – 14 October 1973) was an Egyptian engineer and a general of the 3rd Army of Egypt during the October War. He was killed while crossing the Suez Canal with his soldiers and was awarded the Sinai star posthumously. Biography Hamdi was a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University. In 1951 he joined the Egyptian Air Force, transferring to the engineering force in 1954. Hamdi travelled to the Soviet Union, where he passed a training for leaders at the M. V. Frunze Military Academy. In the Suez Crisis of 1956 he was known as "the pure hand" because he disarmed thousands of landmines. In 1967, he ordered blowing up the El Ferdan Railway Bridge to prevent Israeli soldiers from using it. Saad el-Din Mohamed el-Husseiny el-Shazly ( ar, سعد الدين محمد الحسيني الشاذلي, ) (1 April 1922 – 10 February 2011)was an Egyptian military commander. He was Egypt's chief of staff during the October War. Following his public criticism of the Camp David Accords, he resigned from his post as Ambassador to Britain and Portugal and went to Algeria as a political refugee. He is credited with the equipping and preparation of the Egyptian Armed Forces in the years prior to the successful capture of the Israeli Bar-Lev line at the start of the 1973 war. Mohamed Atef Anwar Sadat ( ar, محمد عاطف أنور السادات; 13 March 1948 – 6 October 1973) was a fighter pilot in the Egyptian Air Force who had the rank of flight lieutenant.
